Positives: Good location as it is next to the old town of Chania. Quiet and calm during the night as well. Decent breakfast from 8 to 11, all served well and restocked constantly for everyone to have what they need. Good Aircon unit, strong and silent.
Negatives: Very basic rooms. Old furniture (80s), no equipment (iron, hair dryer etc) TV was 22 inch, 4 meters away. Fridge old and dirty inside. The best bit though was the bathroom. Tiny shower with a curtain that attached on you while showering as it was impossible to move. The shower head holder on the wall broken and the curtain blocking the drain... Majestic experience! Of course the mirror had a calcitic growth so admirable that was a pity keeping that to themselves and not donate it to a museum. Last but not least. The elevator could get stuck at the 5th floor, so you had to take the stairs. Now if you find where the lights turn on I will give you a ⭐
Should be considered only if it is the last availability. Avoid and get something better for your money (we paid 110 per night). 40/50 euros would be...

I had high hopes for Kumba in Nea Chora, but unfortunately my experience was very disappointing, and I ended up leaving earlier than planned and rebooked at a much better hotel.
The shower flooded every time it was used, and there were broken tiles on the floor, which felt unsafe. There were no extra blankets, so the room was cold and uncomfortable.
The reception area had a strong smell, and construction work started very early in the morning, which was extremely noisy. We were on the 1st floor so every morning we heard the breakfast staff talking loudly and setting up from around 5:30am, and the noise echoed right into the rooms. The breakfast itself was minimal and basic, not as shown or described online.
Lastly, there were no tea or coffee making facilities, even though they were listed in the hotel description.
Overall, the stay was not as advertised and well below...
Read moreThe location is perfect if you want to enjoy the beach and the old town without worrying about walking or driving. The hotel is very close to everything. However, the room was not that clean and the towels smelt bad. When we asked for new ones, the cleaning lady told us that they cannot be changed every day. They only clean the rubbish and make the bed; they don't clean the bathroom or toilet. The breakfast is basic and sometimes a few things are missing, like bread or tomatoes (you might also get burnt cake). For people with OCD or germophobia, this place is not for you; you might find cockroache in your room. We were disappointed :/
It is close to school, so it won't be quiet in the morning if you go between...
