RIPP OFF DONT GO THERE!!! Very poor - waiters lazy and very rude. Firstly, we ordered. the waiter went inside shouting in greek to his partner about the "xenos" the foreign people. Basically he shouted out loud through the restaurant something rude about us. Then, he never brought the order. They had forgotten our order several times. This was obvious as they had nothing to do, came near our table to check a few times and to look outside the window (we sat outside) and looked at us a few times then walking back to the counter. We sat outside and wanted to transfer inside. They told us that there was no table free. After that, one table after another got free. They didnt tell us anything and we kept freezing outside. Also they kept telling ppl they were full, because they wanted to close the restaurant.. and didnt want to work anymore. What is this for work moral? Not every Xeno is a tourist and many of us who live here speak Greek. This place is just for tourists and they want to greedily take it from you. There are still some nice tavernas in the old town, who serve form the heart. Go and eat there, not at Kalderimi. Plus no free water or Meze with the wine we drank, sitting with a friend who ate dinner there. I would give 0 stars if I could. PS Asking 6 Euro for the table set (usually 50cent or 1 if its fancy with raki and desert) is a...
Read moreNo receipt [in Greece no receipt means they are not paying taxes but clients are paying prises including taxes (VAT). In general, by not giving receipts they present their business to have an income of 100 (for example) when they actually have 1000.000, so they only pay taxes for 100!!!, It's obviously illegal and unfair to the rest of the restaurants which are giving receipts for everything they sell and pay taxes according to their real income].
No tap water. Agsin: it's illegal. Any restaurant is obligated to provide drinkable water for free and they refused to.
They are serving bread with tomato (as a starter) without the client to have ordered it, and then they charge the client for it!
Mousaka is supposed to have one proper layer of aubergines (main ingredient), one layer meat mince, one layer bechamel and a layer of potatoes on the bottom. Instead, their mousaka had two layers of potatoes (which is the cheapest of all the ingredients) and just a tiny portion of aubergines, you couldn't feel it at all, and just a little bit of mince ( the most expensive of all the ingredients alongside with the aubergines). Although the place is well decorated and and the other dish was tasty, the whole attitude, especially NOT GIVING RECEIPTS, is unacceptable! NOT FAIR, NOT...
Read moreThe service felt really out of place and needed to check every time if there was a free place to sit when somebody new came to the restaurant. There were no reservation shields on the table, so the process felt ridiculous every time and all the customers were confused. Which made it feel like a charade of exclusivity that wasn't really there.
The portions were made for a full dinner, so if you just want to have a main course, it's definitely not enough. (And I am a small eater). I was a little underwhelmed with the Starter we had, which was the ceviche. My girlfriend then had the filled aubergines (sounds like more than one aubergine) as a main course, that was one small aubergine cut open and filled with tomato and feta cheese. There was definitely room for some side dishes, as the content of the main course was really really small. I wouldnt have had enough in her place. And I would have been happy to pay a little more for the dish If there was either more aubergine or some salad/rice along with it.
Overall a restaurant visit with mixed feelings, I felt that some courses were well thought through and also tasted great, such as the grilled squid, but others were lacking finesse, which didn't quite hit the mark. Also i felt that a glass of wine for 6€...
