I came from London to Crete, and having seen ice cream rolls trending on Facebook and tiktok tOh, where do I even start with Domenico ice cream parlor? Let me tell you, folks, this place is like stepping into an ice cream wonderland. I traveled all the way from London to Crete just to witness the epic phenomenon that is ice cream rolls. I mean, if it's trending on Facebook and TikTok, it must be worth the pilgrimage, right?
Now, let me set the stage for you. Picture this: I'm standing there, eagerly watching the ice cream artisans work their magic, creating these intricate rolls of frozen delight. It's like a culinary masterpiece in motion. I couldn't help but stare in awe, drooling like a puppy in a bacon factory.
The rolls, my friends, they were a sight to behold. Each one bursting with more flavors than an overzealous paint palette. I must admit, I've never seen so many flavors crammed into a single ice cream creation. It's like they were playing a game of "how many flavors can we fit on a tiny ice cream slab?" But hey, more is always better, right? Well, not always.
Now, let's get down to the nitty-gritty: the taste. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I wasn't exactly blown away by the flavor explosion happening in my mouth. It was more like a flavor confetti cannon that misfired. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice experience and all, but if we're being honest, taste-wise, it was more of a gentle pat on the taste buds than a full-on flavor party.
But here's the plot twist, folks. Despite the potential taste letdown, the whole eating experience was surprisingly manageable. You know how sometimes you get a towering ice cream cone that requires an advanced degree in engineering to eat without it toppling over? Well, fear not, my fellow ice cream enthusiasts, because at Domenico, they've cracked the code. These rolls were as well-behaved as a dog in obedience school. Not a single crumb fell out of line.
I, being the adventurous soul that I am, went for the Kinder Bueno ice cream creation. Picture this: strawberries, salted caramel, and a dash of Kinder Bueno goodness. It sounded like a match made in ice cream heaven, but sadly, it fell a little short of my wildest dreams. It was nice and all, but it didn't quite reach the levels of divine dessert bliss that I had imagined. Nonetheless, I persevered and finished it with the dedication of an ice cream connoisseur.
In the end, my friends, Domenico ice cream parlor may not have won the gold medal in the "Best Ice Cream Ever" Olympics, but it certainly deserves an honorable mention for the sheer spectacle and entertainment value. Plus, let's not forget the cool video I captured. It may not have been the best ice cream, but it sure was a memorable experience. So, grab your cameras, folks, and prepare for an ice cream adventure...
Read moreTourist trap or not, avoid if you can. Far away from this place. 11⬠for two ice cream ,but that's not even the problem. I am willing to pay that price if the product deserves it.
I took chocochips and amarena, paid 1⬠extra, and you are expecting some amarena. Nope, zero. Literally just 5 grams MAXIMUM of syrup, not even the decency of putting a single piece of fruit. Just half a teaspoon of syrup to give some colour and another 1⬠for some little chocolate chips( fair regarding the choco chips, I am not expecting a kg of them.)
Now, let's assume that they use Fabbri amarene, which are the top quality globally, and they cost 12⬠600g( price at the public). They probably use a lower quality brand and pay less, but. That means that they pay 0.02 cents per gram of product. In my ice cream, there was a maximum of 5 grams( and I think I am being large with the quantities). So around 10 cents of product in my ice cream for which I paid 1 ā¬. I understand making a profit and the various costs of running a business, but there is a difference between profit margin and overcharging.
I told the girl, making it if she could add some, nothing ignored. When she gave it to me, I asked where the amarena is, nothing, and she replied, "This is amarena chocochip enjoy." Asked again. Same reply Gave up.
Very bad,...

This was definitely one of the most interesting ice cream experiences Iāve had ā on par with what I once tried in Dubai. From the moment you arrive, itās clear: they use only high-quality ingredients, and the difference is in the taste and texture. No preservatives, just rich, clean flavors. Whether or not you care about that kind of thing, itās worth mentioning.
The portion size? Massive. In my experience as a lifelong ice cream lover, one cup could easily serve three people. If youāre hungry and a serious fan, maybe go for two cups. But donāt be surprised if one per person turns out to be way more than you expected. And honestly ā the price is absolutely justified.
Flavor-wise, they offer: ⢠A wide selection of mix-and-match options ⢠Unique house styles ⢠Even whey protein gelato ā a big plus for athletes ⢠And coffee-based options that hit the mark for fellow caffeine lovers
Was it the best gelato of my life? No. Was it in the top tier? Definitely. Iād call it solid A-tier ā not āS-tier unforgettable,ā but absolutely worth the trip if youāre in Crete and love ice cream.
Highly recommended. A sweet surprise, and a must-visit for...
