We were in Chania for a few days early August. We went with another couple who love food and wine as much as we do. Don't forget to book a table especially during high season, there are only 15 tables if I'm not mistaken. However since the owner, Theodosia is the kindest person we met in Chania, she will certainly do her best to fit you in if there is a table available on the night. We were hungry and thirsty but we were thoughtfully advised on what to order foodwise so as not to exaggerate. The dishes you should not miss is the tuna tartare, the beef carpaccio, the foie gras and the black angus ribeye. The steak was the finest piece of meat I've had for a very long time. It literally melted in your mouth. The prices are not those of your local cretan taverna but the quality is certainly fine-dining! Deserving of every cent. As for the wines, where should I start... There are choices by the glass but we went straight to the bottles. We had three(!) bottles all greek wines (a white Vidiano by Idaia Gi, a rose Pink Bang by Wine Art Estate and a red Rapsani Terra Petra by Thymiopoulos to finish). The winelist is extended, fairly priced and based on the greek vineyards. Let them help you with your choices. The staff are very knowledgeable, quick and polite. But if Theodosia is on the premises, ask for her. She is one of a kind! A night to...
Read morePerfect Gluten Free restaurant option for Coeliacs in Chania From my first contact with the staff at Oinoa my stress level reduced - I was in capable hands and could relax and enjoy a Gluten Free meal. The wait staff and kitchen staff are friendly and knowledgeable and experienced in preparing meals for Coeliacs. The waitress guided me through the menu to ensure I had sufficient options. Questions were responded to professionally and a great choice of meals were available. The meal commenced with complimentary Gluten Free bread & dips to start the meal - delicious. I then went with a Beef Carpaccio with rocket leaves, flakes of Parmesan, pine nuts, sea salt & truffle oil starter which was perfection - a true taste explosion. My wife and I shared the Small salad leaves with quinoa, green apple, slices of salty Cretan cheese & strawberry vinaigrette dressing. Amazing. For main course I went With the Black Angus ribeye served with roasted potatoes with herbs, vegetables & red wine sauce. A choice cut perfectly cooked and beautifully paired with seasonal vegetables. The roasted potatoes melted in your mouth. The wine list contained an extensive range of local and international options by the bottle or glass. I went local and was not disappointed. The perfect stop for a Coeliac seeking a stress-free and delicious gluten-free meal in a magical...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Oinoa, a restaurant located on the first floor of a building, featuring a terrace with stunning views of the sea and the city walls. The experience was exceptional from the very start. The waiter who attended us was very friendly and explained the menu in detail, offering recommendations that we decided to follow. The food turned out to be delicious. We started with a beef carpaccio with burrata and a cheese cream that was truly exquisite. Then, we tried some coca bean croquettes, which are meat croquettes served with a delicious sauce. For sharing, we opted for sea bass with a sauce and cod croquettes. Each dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. One of the highlights of the evening was the Greek wine tasting. The waiter guided us on a small journey through Greece with their wines, adapting to our tastes and allowing us to try a variety of options. It was an educational and delightful experience that perfectly complemented our dinner. The restaurant's ambiance is another strong point. Being located on a terrace, there is a gentle breeze that is very pleasant, especially on warm summer nights in Chania.I highly recommend Oinoa to anyone looking for a quiet dinner with an excellent selection of Greek wines and a spectacular view.
