We booked into this hotel for four nights total but left after the first night as it was not good. We did not ask for a refund for unspent nights. The owner did not ask why we were leaving nor if there was anything she could do to make us stay.
The rooms and bathrooms are old and didn’t feel very clean - example being the previous occupant had broken a green bottle of beer (ok, it happens) and I stepped on shards of broken glass four times. The first time maybe it was just missed during the cleaning but by the fourth time there’s a message there that the rooms are not clean. I brought this up to the manager who apologised and assured me the rooms would be properly cleaned. After cleaning I found more glass on the floor…
The water from the shower was brown when turned on but did clear up after running for some time. The water pressure was good as was the temperature. There is no where to hang the shower head so you had to wash yourself in spurts which is one way to conserve water I suppose.
The beds are uncomfortable. I understand that everyone has a different levels and expectations here but this was one step above a prison cot.
The food was a mixed bag, their fried potatoes were actually pretty decent but their pizza was just a flat bread loaf with dry overcooked cheese on top. Salads were ok but the pasta not great.
The prices of the drinks were unreasonably high. No one is going to pay 12+ Euro for a cocktail at a two star hotel on a mountain. I think the prices are such so as to discourage people from ordering but that is conjecture.
There is no wifi in the rooms. This just annoyed me more than anything. It’s a super easy problem to solve - just buy a few range extenders - but for some reason they have not. Reading other reviews this has been a problem for several years so do not expect it to have changed if you choose to stay here.
The location means the view is lovely however you are in-between places meaning it’s a 15 minute walk to anything that’s not the hotel. If you are fully fit and able this likely will not be an issue for you however if you’re older, infirm or less than marathon fit it will be so factor that in.
As you can tell we did not enjoy our time in Petradi and while the staff were polite some of the problems we faced were endemic to the hotel and thus I would not recommend you...
Read moreHotel Petradi gave us the best hotel stay we've ever had, the hospitality and customer service was out of this world. Dimitra, Despina, Irina, Tassos, and the whole team were the most welcoming and warmest we could have ever wished for. We had a group of 30+ people in Ios for a wedding and most of them were staying with us at Hotel Petradi. From the very outset they couldn't do enough for us and were constantly working away to make our stay perfect.||I have lost count of the number of little touches that made the stay so special, they are a truly wonderful bunch of human beings. They bought us wedding gifts, gave us free drinks, cokes and juices for the kids, wines and spirits for the adults, they booked taxis, restaurants, they played with the kids and made them laugh, they solved problems, moved us around if other accommodation suited us better, they even offered myself and my wife an upgraded villa and spent the previous day preparing it for us, at no extra cost. Every single thing they did was based around making our family feel a part of their family and we loved it.||Apart from the hospitality side, the hotel itself is amazing. It is such a pretty hotel perched on the side a cliff with stunning views across the bay. There are two pools, a deeper one for adults and a shallower one for kids, we had young children with us so this was perfect.||All in all we had the most amazing week and were very sad to go. We will definitely be coming back to see more of the island, which is itself is also beautiful and much more reasonably priced than neighbouring Santorini. We will absolutely be staying at Hotel Petradi when we do come back.||Thank you Hotel Petradi for a magical stay and treating us...
Read moreThe hotel itself has a stunning view over the sea, which is the only thing I appreciated during my stay. The room stunk with humidity which was particularly bothering. It was otherwise clean, quite basic and a bit dark. The price was quite high for off season in comparison to other neighbour hotels and did not include breakfast. Wi-Fi only works outdoor and in my case was not working at all during my one night stay.
The service is particularly bad, when we got the room we immediately asked if we could cancel the rest of our stay after the first night as we did not like the room at all and did not feel comfortable in it. They did not even ask why we did not like it. We were offered to be moved however the other room available had the exact same humidity issue. The reception initially refused to reimburse the rest of our stay without giving us any suitable solution. The same day as it was impossible to get any Wi-Fi both outdoor and indoor. The staff tried to fix it despite the late hour. After more than one hour no solution was found and they then agreed to cancel and reimburse the remaining two nights of our stay.
The reception apologized on the next day and claimed their cared about customer satisfaction which is why they were exceptionally reimbursing the rest of the stay. My experience would have been far less worse if they had had this behaviour from the very first day when we initially told them we did not like the room and wanted to leave.
This one night stay was a complete waste of...
