This hotel was wonderful and we had an incredible stay. The service was unmatched and those working here really understand hospitality and we’re so attentive! They made our stay so enjoyable and really went above and beyond. They welcomed us with open arms. We forgot to schedule their free ride from the ferry port to the hotel and just made a quick phone call and they came right away! On the ride to the hotel our wonderful driver went out of his way to tell us about the island and shared stories about legends and the history. The front desk staff checked us in and gave us so many recommendations and remembered us for the rest of our stay. I had gotten a sun rash from being out on the water all day and the front desk staff noticed and showed concern and directed me to the pharmacy and let me know I should definitely get it checked out right away. (She was right! Went to the pharmacy and got medication that cured it). When we got back from going downtown she remembered to ask and check back on how my skin was! They also remembered when we were leaving and the day before made sure to come ask us when we needed a ride to the ferry port when we were enjoying the sunset on the balcony. They were so incredibly helpful. The bartender was so nice and made sure to make our drinks for us still even when his shift was supposed to be over. Our family has stayed at many 5 star resorts around the world that cost 5x the price and we can confidently say that the service here was even better than many of those resorts. The hospitality is truly unmatched. I would 100% recommend staying here! Especially if you are coming with family and want to be able to relax by a pool and not just spend all day downtown shopping and drinking. The walk to downtown was not too bad although it is a pretty steep downhill/uphill incline on a somewhat busy road. We did not find it to be too much of an inconvenience however and the walk is only about 10 minutes or so! This was a wonderful ad welcoming place to stay and we will definitely be back. Not to mention the incredible views...
Read moreWe loved our stay at the Alkyon. We had a standard sea view room which was spacious and brightly lit. The shower was very good and there was a hairdryer. We'd read that kettles are provided but we didn't have one in our room so we queried with Sofia who said they'd had to be removed during Covid but took one out of a cupboard and we were able to keep it for the length of our stay. We like our privacy and the terrace was just right for us. Not a sweeping panoramic view but a sea view nonetheless. Breakfast was more than adequate with a mix of Greek pastries and warm cooked breakfast stuff. Plus fresh oranges/apples/kiwis etc. The pool was freezing but that's to be expected in May and it was a lovely spot to relax and sunbathe while admiring the gorgeous views. It's also a great sunset spot. We had just a couple of issues which we raised with Sofia but we are unsure if anything will be done...... Our room was up a flight of stairs with a main door and then off to 3 rooms of which ours was one. At night there's a security light that stays on all night. The fact that our door was slightly warped meant that light blazed into the room under the door all night - we ended blocking this with cushions which was an improvement but we think the security light should be changed to one that is motion activated. Our last day was a very windy one. This meant that the main door to the 3 apartments kept blowing open as there was no lock on it and the wind coming in made our door rattle uncontrollably all night which was a real pain and kept us awake. We ended up having to stuff some card into the door crack to try and prevent the noise. Had it been windy all week we'd probably have complained. Our holiday was in no way spoilt by these issues but we do think the managers could improve these things. As another review has stated, there are no mirrors in the bedroom apart from a shaving mirror. A long mirror would be a real asset so I don't go out looking like I got dressed...
Read moreWhat a great hotel - a stylish foyer, and a pool overlooking Mykonos Town and out to the water with incredible views. We arrived at the Port and the Staff picked us up ( in her own car, the hotel bus was out and about - which we thought was funny, but so kind of her to come get us!), and we sat by the pool as soon as we arrived, overlooking a stunning view of Mykonos and the port and the ocean - what a view. The pool is very very windy, as it's high up - so it's probably not ideal to sit there every day, as it's blowing a galeforce wind, but it was lovely. Our room was big, lots of space, clean and comfy, good air-con, strong wifi, quiet and well decorated. We had our flight cancelled, so we never got to sleep there and try the breakfast, but the staff were wonderful and the hotel offers a free airport/ferry shuttle, which we appreciated. We're sorry we didn't get to stay overnight, but loved the hotel and pool. The location is on a busy road, and there's no shops or restaurants near by, the walk down into the town we were told is about 15 mins, but it'd be a very steep walk back up to the hotel by the height of where we were staying, and so if you're looking for a hotel on the doorstep to shops/restaurants etc then this isn't ideal... but it's a great hotel - near the port and near the ferry and you can walk into Mykonos Town......and the pool.... well - check out the photos - it's...
