Beautiful setting. Very well designed. The staff were on point. The food was impeccable. Wide variety of menu options. And the cocktails were the best we had on the island. The issue in a sense is they try far too hard. Every order we made was countered by the sever with a more expensive alternative or added side, that they asked us to consider. And several items were brought to our table without asking or revealing that it would have an extra cost, bread and extra water, and put on our bill. The hostess was very exact letting us know that we only had 90 min at our table, which is fine for time, but seemed a bit forced of a statement especially since they did not specify the cost of extra items. Granted they did provide an ongoing bill throughout the night which provided some transparency- this seemed unnecessary to us (or more like uncommon for you to check while you are on vacation). And finally, the staff did appear under pressure from management who seemed to distract them from our perspective. They almost tried too hard to be perfect, like our empty cocktail glasses were not able to hit the table before being taken away and water was refilled the minute you took a sip even if there was plenty of water still in the glass. One last note to make is the music, I think as the rest of the island it should be split in two shifts. Allow the earlier group to actually enjoy the dinner and conversation without the loud music and you can switch it up for later. Overall the food, staff, and setting were 5 stars. But direction from management to be too perfect killed the vibe. We enjoyed it but it was a novelty and not sure it’s a place we would ever recommend for most people.

Date of dining: 1 June 2023. Our favorite meal during our vacation in Mykonos!! Byblos is incredibly designed and aesthetically pleasing from start to finish. We decided to get the tasting menu (one meat and one vegetarian with fish). I was thrilled to have my pescatarian needs accommodated for a tasting menu! All staff members are very professional and we even had the sweetest woman offer me a shawl in case I got cold. Wow! The cocktail menu is very creative and the staff knows the whole menu very well. When we went, we were treated like royalty. The staff accommodated and anticipated our every need/desire. We loved every single dish and only felt that one was slightly too spicy. I love a lot of heat, but I could see how it might be a bit much for my partner or others. Overall the balance of the dishes were remarkable. We practically licked every plate. The ceviche dish (not pictured) was the most perfect ceviche we have ever had! Serving it mixed tableside and with lotus chips is stunning. Definitely recommend for anyone looking to have an outstanding meal. Worth every penny. Price Point is good for the service and such a creative tasting menu with a star. I wish there was a Byblos in North America! I am a sucker for anything Peruvian and/or Japanese inspired.

The worst culinary experience. A sommelier who only knows how to recommend a wine based on the highest price and filled the glass as if it were an aquarium with little fish inside. The wine warmed up quickly and, being a rosé with a high residual sugar content, it tasted like strawberry shortcake juice. A waiter when we asked for a cloth napkin looked at us in astonishment. Not a very diverse range of dishes on offer with prices that are not related to quality. They wrote "Roasted Oysters" on the appetizer plate, but there wasn't even a trace of an oyster. It was a sensation of attraction, and I think it's misleading because you expect to feel and see the oyster in your mouth. We spent a lot for four courses, two of which were terrible. The waiter asked for a tip, and while I was explaining my point that I wouldn't leave a tip, he started grinning and smiling as if I were the "poor guy." Once I left the restaurant, I explained my experience to the reception girls, making them reflect on the reason why they have so many empty tables and to change the chef because you cannot offer those dishes at those prices that are poor in substance, poorly balanced in tasting and presented by that staff there. The music was really nice though!

SCAM ALERT IN THIS RESTAURANT! I visited Byblos in Mykonos alone — I had a reservation, was in a great mood, ready to treat myself to a nice evening. Right from the start, however, the waiter tried to push me into ordering the multi course menu, even though I clearly declined several times and asked for the à la carte menu instead. After insisting, I finally received the menu, ordered a starter, a main course, and a glass of champagne, and.handed the menu back to the waiter.

At the next table, guests were served something that looked like an amuse-bouche - guacamole with potatoes. The waiter then asked me if I would like something similar — or alternatively, caviar. Assuming it was a small tasting portion or perhaps a gesture from the kitchen, I agreed to the caviar. At the end, I have already ordered a starter and a main, so obviously for the waiter that I wouldn't order any additional starter anyway. The waiter returned with a large tin of caviar, a plate of crackers, and a bowl of ice. I expected him to add a tiny bit of the kaviar on the crackers but instead he emptied the entire content into the bowl. This was the moment I realized something is wrong and asked him if this is a greeting from the kitchen or if he thinks I'm going to pay for it. Only then did he explain that this was “for me,” at a so-called special price of €300 (instead of €500). I immediately stopped the process, asked to speak with the manager and made it very clear that I would not accept such a charge. Fortunately, since I hadn’t eaten any of it yet and was firm in my response, the item was removed from the bill.

Still, it was obvious that the intention was to mislead me into an overpriced upsell. The whole situation felt like a deliberate scam — and frankly, it seemed as though they assumed that, because I was a woman dining alone, I wouldn’t challenge it.

For a restaurant of this category, transparency and respect should be a given. Instead, I experienced pressure, manipulation, and a complete lack of professionalism.

Bottom line: A deeply disappointing evening. If you value honesty, transparency, and a respectful dining experience, I cannot recommend Byblos Mykonos. I certainly...

More hosting less gossip!!!

We visit the place at the end of August. The food was good but a bit overpriced. Ask for Mary on your arrival. She is cheerful and very helpful. The restaurant is quite atmospheric but almost empty. It was our table, one more and a few people at the bar . When I ask our waiter why it’s so empty, he respond to us that we came an off-peak time. Let’s skip to the good part. The black hair hostess who was completely unprofessional.( Based to other comments it’s not a surprise ). Apparently she didn't know that my husband speaks Greek and he heard her commenting our appearance with other people (from the staff ). Moreover , when I was looking for the bathroom she never asked me what I was looking for or if I need any help. She was busy texting on Instagram. Thanks God! Mary was around and she lead me to the loo. When I came from the wc she open the curtains but as she was in a hurry to take a selfie she threw it all to my face. I end up to open the curtain my self as I was strangled to remove it from my body. I’ve never heard an apology about that ( shocking! ). The hostess wasn’t actually a nice host at all and she was never there! She preferred to spend her time on her cellphone or by gossiping with a bαld guy from service or with our waiter than to do her job. She made a bad impression to us and she ruin my night. I am not writting for the blonde girl and the young man on the first entrance. Both of them very welcome, polite, very professionals and always smiling. I would like to have one of those two people around and not the Miss moody face hostess. Costas the owner was always around talking to customers. He tried to sacure that everything was ok (Very funny guy if you have the chance to meet him ). Nik ( I think was his name) our waiter helped us with the menu and our dietary difficulties. He was really careful and kind to us. However, we would appreciate to bee more close to our table and checking for us instead of being next to the entrance and do gossip with the black hair hostess all the time.

That’s the biggest comment I...

This restaurant is the the bigger scam I have ever experienced.

First the staff brought out bread and guacamole (6 pieces of bread for 7 people) but charged for 7 portions one person has special dietary needs, so they charged for that serving on top of the 7 already charged servings of bread.

Two people of the group ordered wagyu steak of which one was Wagyu the other was ordinary steak. When confronted the waiter who later claimed to be the manager claimed that the texture would have changed due to the marinade and the sauce. When nobody at the table bought that explanation he stated that the steak would just be from the other side of the meat, which is also nonsense.

One person with lactose intolerance stated this when ordering and still got served fish soaked in milk before frying. The restaurant promised to make it right but never followed through.

The staff kept refilling the water without asking if they should open another bottle and with 7 people there was no transparency on how many bottles were opened and we got presented with €50 worth of water on the check.

When we questioned the check the waiter introduced himself as the “manager” and just kept deflecting everything with “restaurant policy” he first claimed he would take the bread off the check, but then returned stating that the system wouldn’t allow it.

When the women of the group confronted him the “manager”acted like a bully and tried to intimidate them, when the men said something he got plain aggressive.

When the payment was discussed the “manager” said the system wouldn’t allow not allow a split bill and furthermore would only allow a 10% 20% or 30% tip. It took the cardholder 5 minutes to make clear that with that service there will be no tip.

In total a frustrating experience where our group got charged for things we didn’t order or didn’t receive also the quality of food, service and size of the portions don’t justify a check of €660.

We recommend rather not...
