Needing a break from some projects I've been planning, I chose to stay here as I always wanted to know what it was like. I presented myself at the reception and met the man who owns and runs this most famous of Mykonos Hotels. It is May 2021 and the COVID19 pandemic feels like something from another planet. But all the Greek rules and regulations apply here so please remember to wear a facemask and check the various websites for the latest requirements in Greece, as they change regularly.|I was shown a beautiful perfectly clean and functional ensuite double bedroom with all mod cons including 2 internet links specifically for the Manto Hotel guests. I speak some Greek now so asked the owner for a deal because everywhere is still quiet as the Island prepares to welcome the hoards of tourists from the Northern Counties. |The little fridge seemed slow to start up so I asked if I might get a replacement and the owner immediately returned with a larger newer fridge. The towels were changed daily and each day I was asked if I wanted the linen freshened up or replaced with new ones.|The location of the hotel is right beside its namesake Manto Square, known also as Taxi Square. It is also right beside the most exclusive shopping Street I've ever seen anywhere in Greece, called Mattigiannis St.|The owner told gave me his personal phone number and asked me to call him in the even of any emergency. |The reception of the Manto Hotel might remind you that you are sitting in an art gallery. Stunning and tranquil. No loud music. The only noise to be heard is the noise of all the workers preparing all the streets and buildings for the tourist season.|Apart from the usual loud tourists from Athens, taking a few days break at the weekends, the other guests agree that this hotel is a must for the discerning.|Please note, the time I stayed here is the calm before the storm. As the tourist season has only just begun. As the time marches on, the hoards will arrive and the sense of expectation and tranquility will evaporate. Only to be replaced with the noise of thousands of holiday-makers who like me, love this Jewel in the Greek Crown called Mykonos.|I cannot improve on the website photos apart from the one photo missing so I'll post it. It's the photo of the doors of the main reception and if you look closely you will see the personal note from the owner identifying his home landline number....I hope he doesn't mind. |Would I stay here again? Absolutely.|Do I have any complaints? Not a single one.|Would I recommend this hotel to others? Yes, it's just gorgeous to stay in the heart of the Hussle and Bussle.|Don't take my word for it. Discover it yourselves and if you are looking for something cheaper, then may I suggest you try another Island, because this is MYKONOS. Island of the famous glamorous that attracts hundreds of thousands of sun worshipers each year. Is Mykonos expensive, YES, so be prepared to spend your hard earned wages and splash out and make it a holiday to remember for all of your lifetime. It's Special, exclusive, glamorous, fun, stunning to me from the cold North. Please be respectful of all the locals and the Greek Orthodox traditions. Remember also, this is not just an island of tourists. Also on this island many people from all walks of life and all parts of the planet live their normal lives and try to rear their families with all the craziness this island attracts during the tourist season.|Please if you are still reading this review, visit the statue of Manto or " ΜΑΔΟΝ". The heroine of Mykonos, read why she is revered because years ago she saved this island from a different invasion,...
Read moreI stayed as a solo traveler for four days for about $200 early May 2018 (have been busy so haven't reviewed places I've been yet). The going rate on the hotel website was about $50 a night. The hotel is centrally located (close to the port) and very convenient. You can rent a scooter or ATV (laws have gotten stricter on this, though) within walking distance to explore the island. The breakfast that is included is not a warm breakfast although the cheese and meat made for very tasty sandwiches and there were other things like cereal, orange juice, etc. I chose the hotel because I needed some time to detox in my own room (read: not a hostel) at a very affordable price for the area. The hotel is mostly quiet through the day. At times, you can hear parties at night, but it didn't keep me up at all. During my stay, there was one other solo traveler and there were also a few couples. I recommend taking time to explore Mykonos and see the Armenistis Lighthouse, Ano Mera, etc. instead of just partying. The island is energetic at times, but it's a good place for people of all ages. One other thing: the owner/person in charge of the hotel speaks English but not perfectly. You may need to repeat things a few times, but he was friendly, and I...
Read moreDecent accommodation in the centre of Mykonos town.
The location is unbeatable - walking distance to all attractions in the town and also provides opportunities to roam the town in the morning before the crowds.
Rooms are small but comfortable - wifi provided and rooms have a fridge, air con and tv. The rooms were very clean, but bedding was a bit worn. This didn’t bother me given the price and cleanliness is more important to me which gets five stars!
Staff are extremely friendly and approachable.
No noise from the street even during the lively evenings. However, noise from guests coming back in the early hours of the morning could be heard. This was probably the only downside of my stay, although I’m not sure if this would be common...
