‼️One of the worst restaurant experience I have ever had in my life . We’ve been Travelling a lot and have been in to many Greek islands / we have never paid nearly 260 euros for a lunch . What a nightmare . This restaurant charged us around 257 euros . we went there and asked for a seafood platter . We spoke to the guide and told him simply what we wanted . My partner wasn’t hungry much so we asked him for a small portion of seafood platter . He showed us the menu . We picked the fish , calamari and mussels . Then we sat there and waited for our food . The waiter brought us a bowl of salad , pitta bread and dips ( which we never ordered ) and then later brought us the calamari and muscles , it was really big portions so we told the waiter to cancel the fish , but the guide said the fish is already cooked and can’t cancel it . Later the fish arrived as well , it was really big . We couldn’t eat all . Finally the bill came and we were really shocked 😮. The bill was nearly 257 euros . The bill was written in Greek . But we realised that they charged us 175 euros for the fish . And then they even charged for the salad , pitta Bread and dips which we never ordered . The fish we ordered on the menu was only 45 euros . He said it was half kilo . We later understood this was a trap 🪤 to make money out of foreigners . They won’t explain everything properly at the beginning . We think we only order what’s on the menu . After they issued the bill only we realised how we were cheated . So anyone visiting this restaurant please check with them the price first . But we strongly advise you to not to go to this restaurant as they even charged for a small Bottle of water for 7 euros . They bring other stuff on table but they will also charge for this as well . So better avoid this restaurant and save your money , it’s not about the price . It’s about the integrity and how they trap a foreigner to pay more bills on their food . This is how they are earning on their business and this restaurant staff are really shame on Greek culture . We have been in to santorini, Corfu , Rhodes , Crete and Paxos . We have never encountered this kind of behaviour. But this restaurant people were completely the opposite, they even forced us to pay for a tip as well .and they said minimum tip was 15% of the bill . I will strongly not recommend anyone to go to this place and our holiday was ruined too because of this as we planned on a...
Read moreREAD THE REVIEWS BEFORE VISITING. THIS RESTAURANT IS A TOURIST TRAP. Big filthy scalpers, overcharging customers, hidden fees, not transparent with their prices.
Atmosphere is good, someone sitting in the front row in the restaurant recommended us this place saying ‘food was really good’. Staff was quite friendly at first. Food was mediocre, not worth the price. The grilled calamari and orzo was fine, but others on the pricey side.
This place is a complete tourist trap. Very dishonest about their prices. Deliberately not displayed the prices in the menu in front of the shop, just photos of the food. Did not show prices for drinks etc. sparkling water. Charged 7 euros for a bottle.
We ordered ‘catch of the day’ and staff told us it was 49 euros per 500 gram. We asked for 500 grams at first only. However they said it would be the whole fish, and did not tell us how heavy the fish would be even upon us asking, turns out they charged us 147 euros for the 1.5kg sea bass. The staff just told us “49euros per 500grams for catch of the day so it’s 147euros” but never notified us about the weight. This completely ruined our experience! If they could be more transparent about their prices we would have enjoyed our meal here more. Go to other restaurants near the old port. They offer the same fish for like 70% or less the price.
Our bill was around 286 euros. Did not ask for any tip but they charged us 328 euros on card about 15% more. Definitely not worth a tip knowing they scammed customers. They were so dishonest, if you read more reviews about this restaurant, you will find out about this restaurant charging us up to 30% more their original bill.
Conclusion: do not come if you want overpriced food and a hidden 30 euro charge not written...
Read moreI recently visited Promenade Restaurant drawn in by its attractive ambiance and promising seafood selection. While the service and food presentation were decent, the experience was ultimately overshadowed by one major issue: a complete lack of transparency around pricing, especially for fish dishes.
What started off as a pleasant meal turned sour when the bill arrived. One of the main dishes, which featured fresh fish, was marked on the menu as “market price.” This is usually fair—if the staff clearly communicates the price beforehand. In this case, no such communication was made. When we inquired after receiving a surprisingly high bill, the staff vaguely justified it by saying the fish was “premium quality” and “sourced fresh today.” However, no weight, price per kilo, or even a ballpark estimate was ever shared before ordering.
This feels like a deliberate attempt to fool diners, especially tourists or anyone unfamiliar with how “market price” can be used to hide inflated costs. When pressed for details, the answers remained evasive, and no effort was made to apologize or rectify the situation.
Restaurants have a responsibility to be honest and upfront about their pricing. This kind of shady practice erodes trust and leaves customers feeling taken advantage of.
If you decide to eat here, ask for clear prices in writing before ordering anything listed as market price, especially fish. Better yet, consider supporting a more transparent establishment that values fairness as...
