During my 2 week trip in Greece in the busy and very hot month of July, my beach time at Naxos and my stay at Golden Silence were some of the highlights of my vacation. It is situated in Agios Prokopios, a 2 minute walk to the beach, just close enough to the main attractions of the area without being disturbed by it. The market is a 1 minute walk away, as well as Internet services and Ferry/Boat Ticket Salespoints (when you head towards the beach).||||To get there - If you take the bus from the port, you will see it on the way to Agios Prokopios bus stop (on your left). The bus stops further than Golden Silence, so you will have to walk back. ||||The studio is very large and roomy, one of the roomiest places i've seen in Greece, and for the price, it is an ABSOLUTE BARGAIN (40-45 euros a night for 2 people in July)!!!! It has AC (perfect for the crazy heat of july) and an equipped kitchen (we even had a cheese grater and a wine opener), a balcony where we enjoyed dinner at night (my favorite), and a new clean functional bathroom (a relief!). We enjoyed making dinner for a change and relaxing at "home" after a long day of bumming at the beach, biking and windsurfind! ||||A Greek family with young children who do not speak much English owns the place and also lives onsite. They also do not have internet nor do they manage their online bookings themselves. Therefore, if you choose to book online (i had done so on Expedia), I highly suggest you print out on paper your confirmation and that you mention that you have booked with the Office (where a lovely young woman help them out with the online reservations. you might not even meet her though). Although it would seem that the language barrier and absence of internet would make it difficult to enjoy this place, I have to say that for these reasons I found the place even more charming! ||||I enjoyed it thoroughly as it was not too touristy, and a little more authentic! :) (how fun to stay with a Greek family, while also having your own space!)||||Perfect for famillies, an absolute luxury for backpackers!!!!||I look forward to coming back there one day,...
Read moreI have come to the island for the past 20 years and never had a bad stay until today!!! I called from the ferry boat to make the owner Katerina aware that we were arriving but she said room would not be ready and did not have a place to leave our luggage so we can go to the beach. When it was ready we went to the apartment and she shared with us a story after asking her for a second key. They only provide one key because she said there has been a previous incident with theft. She also shared not to contact her in the afternoon because they sleep. When she left I looked around and found dirt, hair and paper under the bed. The shower had sand in it and the sink was dirty. We had given a deposit for 2 nights and she would not return it after we mentioned how the room was not suitable especially during this period of covid. Katerina wanted to inspect the room and said she found nothing wrong with it. I shared with her that I have never had such an awful experience on this beautiful island. Therefore I wanted to warn others not to go to this...
