the walk to the beach involves a busy narrow road that is not “ideally close” to the hotel. It’s a hike on a hot day with beach gear. Not safe for children or seniors. Also beware that the walk to the beach is a bit of a down hill walk. Which, in turn, is an uphill walk on the return. Definitely not convenient if you like to traverse from the beach to the hotel throughout the day. There is a bus every 30 mins. which costs 1.80€ and can be quite crowded during peak season. Bus tickets must be purchased at the mini mart near the beach, not on board the bus. The hotel shuttle requires an hour notice and was unavailable both times we requested it. The family suite is nothing more than 2 adjoining rooms, like a Ramada Inn or Holiday Inn in the States. Do not be fooled by the number of stars of this hotel. Many of the photos on their website are of the neighboring hotels. For example the life-sized chess board in the hotel next door. As well as several of the other beautiful pools. This hotel has only one pool. Overall the breakfast was average. Again, not 4 star. The front desk staff was nice enough when asked about Island tours. The management staff left much to be desired when inquiring about safer alternatives to get to the beach. The canned line is that the hotel website reads the hotel is 350 meters from the sea. As a crow flies, we...

|We luved our time at Lagos Mare ... |Greeted with drinks upon arrival set the tone ... |This is an older property but well maintained... |Our room was big, clean with a good sized deck with a partial sea view .... |Breakfast buffet had good options... We liked that they cooked your eggs to order ... We found the dinner menu limited but were eating in town so it wasn't an issue ... |The pool bar was stocked with top shelf liquor had a master mixologist!! Try the cucumber martini its amazing !!|It is a 20 euro cab fare each way into Chora but a short walk into the little seaside village of Agios Prokopios ... So its quite at night and we slept well... (They didnt seem to have a shuttle into town ... )|Over all the place has a very relaxing vibe ...|The only cons we found was the music... It was like 1960's Vegas themed ... |The shining stars here are the staff ... Right down to the house keeper Nancy !! |We would definitely stay...

A fantastic hotel tucked within walking distance of the beach. And to address the dude below, the hotel doesn’t pretend to be on the beach. It is within walking distance, but it’s not like you’d want to go back and forth several times a day. If you want that, do what I did and rent a car. Then drive south to a secluded beach, which is way better than the crowded beach nearby. The staff at this hotel spoil guests with their amazing breakfast (spanakopita, cheese pastry cake, crepes, Greek eggs, Naxos Greek yogurt and cheeses and croissants) and friendly service. In fact, their restaurant has some of the best food anywhere, and Im not just saying that. The property is beautiful, yard and swing set for kids is a bonus, as is on-site parking, which makes up for the small pool. Thank you for all the wonderful day trip recommendations. I had the time of my life. Will absolutely be back and will bring my friends and...

A Little Paradise This isn’t the first time we’ve stayed at the Lagos Mare Hotel, located just above Aghios Prokopios Beach. The location is perfect, only 350 meters from one of the most beautiful beaches in Naxos, and centrally positioned for those who want to explore this incredible island further. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing, and the staff are very attentive to the needs of their guests. The breakfast is plentiful, with no rush, allowing you to start your day at your own pace. The “1924” restaurant offers a menu featuring Cycladic specialties and dishes inspired by Smyrna (the founder's hometown, from which he arrived in 1924), along with an extensive wine list featuring both local wines and those from other parts of Greece. The wide variety of cocktails to sip at the poolside bar is also worth noting. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a slice of the Cyclades in total relaxation.

5 nights at Lagos Mare in early October. Nice location. 10 minute taxi from airport, 8 minute walk to the beach and 10 minute bus ride to the main town. Taxi from airport charged us 25 Euros but think we were ripped off. Hotel shuttle was only 20 Euros. Lesson learned. Hotel has a very good restaurant. Ate there a few nights and breakfast was included. They helped us organize a rental car and provided towels for the beach. No complaints and enjoyed our stay. Only negative is that if you want to get to the main town you will need to take taxi, bus, or rental. There is a good selection of restaurants along the beach and some shops. So great if you are more of a beach person. Bus is 2.10 Euros each way and hotel sells tickets. Good to pre purchase for both of says. Bus ran every 30 minutes, good to confirm times at front desk.
