It’s not terrible, it’s not great. Have I stayed in worse and better, of course. We stayed here for a week on a girls trip. We came to Naxos during peak season so this was one of the most affordable hotels. It’s not terrible like I said, just okay. It’s by no means 4 star, I’d say a 2. The rooms are basic, the beds are so uncomfortable, springy, bouncy and hard mattresses. It’s cleanish, the safe is key operated which you must get from reception. The balcony in our room was okay but the massive aircon fan blows hot air on you as it’s angled towards the table and chairs and can’t be moved. Fine if you come outside and turn the aircon off, not so nice if not everyone wants to sit outside and some want to stay cool inside.
The breakfast was basic, not many hot veggie options unless you like eggs or eggs or eggs. The breakfast room has a nice view though.
Housekeeping, whilst very friendly will sit in the hallway in the morning waiting for you to wake up, and will insist on coming into the room whilst you’re getting ready. She was very sweet but insisted on speaking to us in Greek which sadly we couldn’t speak back. We sat on the balcony whilst she insisted on cleaning the room even though we asked for an extra 15 minutes whilst we got ready to leave. In the mornings the noise from other rooms being cleaned is very loud, chairs or beds being scraped against tile floors.
Pool area is okay, comfortable enough, the pool towels are collected from reception and are a ten euro deposit. Poor bar is basic, snacks are basic. Cocktails are horrendous. Staff are friendly.
Location wise, it’s not great, perhaps we could have done a bit more research on the walk to and from the beach. There’s no supermarket close, it’s a 20 minute walk downhill. To the beach, the hotel mini bus runs every hour to the hotels own section of beach with beds and umbrellas. Sadly there’s no beach bar or decent loos nearby so you’d need to take your own refreshments and be prepared to use a portaloo. The walk if you go direct to the beach takes you past what look like red lakes, either clay or salt and they absolutely STINK. Like sewage, they made us gag. If you do stay here, walk up and down the main road to Prokopios beach instead.
Naxos itself is absolutely stunning and is definitely worth visiting. It was my second time and I’m getting married here next year. This was bridesmaid research/girls trip. We hired a car for one day and drove to Plaka which was so beautiful and much quieter. More peaceful beach, stunning clear water and some really nice high end beach bars without the ridiculous cost of umbrella sets in Prokopios. I’d recommend staying near Plaka or Anna beaches, don’t come in peak season so accommodation is more affordable and you can have better beach...
Read moreOverall, the hotel is very pretty when you’re there, especially their views of the sea and their decor. The service staff and employees were the sweetest people and very attentive during hotel breakfast and by the pool bar.
However, as someone who has stayed in 4* hotels before in Europe, this was not a 4* experience at all. It was a bit of a catfishing situation. Booking.com made this hotel seem very classy and fancy which it was not. It felt more like a family-run 3* hotel. The hotel is pretty disconnected from the town by the beaches. The walk is very dark and unsafe, I was pregnant and only managed to do it once or twice. It’s a 25-30 minute walk down to the beach with a lot of cars and traffic you have to be careful around.
The location is not great without a car and there are no restaurants close by. The hotel restaurant was very empty almost every night and the food quality was not great. I was served cold shrimps twice, in an orzo and spaghetti dish. The food didn’t match up to a 4* experience.
We also rented a car from a Car rental agency that the hotel recommended to us, this was “motonaxos”. We ended up being scammed for damages and paid 780 euros for a “damaged” bumper, despite the car showing no damages and driving perfectly fine when we had it. We are now trying to get the money back and the hotel didn’t offer to help us with this at all, which I found really stressful and gave me a lot of anxiety as a pregnant woman. I feel like they genuinely didn’t care about what happened with the car rental agency, and it almost seemed like they didn’t believe us. We have a receipt of what we paid to MotoNaxos and our communication with them, it was a lot of money to lose and that place is clearly a scam.
I don’t know why Kavuras is working with a shady car dealer as a 4* hotel.
Overall, I would not come back given the quality of the rooms, location, and lack of shuttle bus services. This wasn’t very family friendly , unless you have a car and have no mobility issues and can manage long walks in heat.
Our bedsheets were very thin, had ants in them multiple times, and our AC was poor quality.
The hotel also had very bad wifi, almost all over the location. I was not able to call my partner and often relied on...
Read moreI highly DO NOT recommend this place. This place advertises a four star hotel with the expectation of a luxury and clean feel. However this was way below our expectations. Upon arrival to our rooms we were extremely disappointed with the fact that our beds felt so stiff!!!! it felt like i was sleeping on springs, not to mention their pillows were so soft that i had a sore neck after. This was resolved by giving us another room, which was not an upgrade, and the beds were not any better! Upon messaging management (which have been absent throughout this whole disaster), they told us they have provided enough compensation by giving us another room. We found hair in the bathroom which had a foul smell, towels had food and bleach stains on them, fridge had built up dirt in it, built up mould in the grout, built up dirt on the shower handles and doors (i showered with sandals on as i felt so disgusted), bed sheets had holes in them, pool bar smelt, pool was dirty on the outskirts and sunbeds were ripped. It looks like some rooms have been renovated and some have not, which i think prices should differ accordingly. Management is clearly too stingy to maintain a hotel with so much potential!!!
I also ordered a club sandwich (which was forwarded to management but they did not address this issue), it costed me 12 euros and had the smallest amount of lettuce, tomato and chicken in it. Such a rip off, i did not bother ordering food for the rest of my trip here! Not to mention the breakfast buffet is left with no lids all morning, perfect for flies to go on the food and for food to go cold, don’t we all love that?! Again, this was mentioned to management and not addressed. Wifi is appauling, i had to use my data throughout my whole stay. And considering the amount of money i spent and how much i was looking forward to my stay here, this has disrupted my stay in Naxos and has made it worse due to management having no consideration for their guests!!!
This hotel is a situation of false...
