My family and I arrived on the 16th for a 5 night stay, from the get go the owners didnât offer us anything to drink while we waited for our room to be cleaned upon check in . The owner took us to the wrong room up two sets of steps , then we waited back down in the reception where none of the Owners spoke to us . After waiting over 1 hour for our room on the ground floor near the pool we entered our room were we were astonished how poorly the room was especially for a family room where there were two single beds that could barely fit in and was very hard and firm and un sleep able My parents bed was even worse , my mum who suffers from neck and back pain couldnât sleep on it . We called the front telling them about it and they brang over a new mattress which by then we wanted to leave asap , one of the owners partners was very unprofessional how she handled the situation and said didnât u check the photos before coming which we replied different being there in person then over the phone , we left after only being there for 3 hours , we couldnât have any doors or blinds open due to not having any privacy which is a joke . The owners were very unprofessional and most shocking is them taking almost 700⏠for 5 nights which we didnât even stay one night . We had to go to another hotel down the road and spend another 650⏠In all honesty I donât know how this place is a 3 star hotel is beyond a joke , donât recommend staying here
My uncles stay was unpleasant as well , were my uncle said to them are u able t to clean my room which one of the owners replied we the clean the rooms when we feel like it which is bloody unprofessional. They didnât leave him any shampoo for the shower which is disgusting The young owner was confronting my uncle saying he was very picky about his situation and his stay They were very aggressive to my uncle and my family which is clear stuffed , How do u take almost 700⏠for a 3 hour stay is a joke , it left me and my family a sour taste in our mouths There are more beautiful hotels in Naxos donât stay here I didnât wanna write this review but oh well u gotta do...
Read moreWe spent 11 days at Proteas Hotel (2 adults, 1 child) and we absolutely loved it. LOVED IT. When we first arrived i was concerned as it looked like we were miles away from the beach and town but it was actually fine. You are on a little hill so it's elevated and looks far away but we timed it and it's only a 7 minute walk to the most beautiful beach / water, and a 10-15 min walk to the town and tavernas, depending how fast you walk. The bus stop is also only 5 mins walk to get around the rest of the island. The room was big, modern, refurbished and so clean. Rooms were cleaned every day and tours organised at front desk. All the staff so helpful and nice - every day - and they worked long days! The hotel is family run and the mum makes great breakfasts. Great pool - so quiet and peaceful, away from the doof doof music at night near the beach front. Perfect location, perfect hotel, perfect everything!! We didn't want to leave. If only it was close to Australia we would go there every 6 months. We LOVED Agios Prokopios. Hopefully tourism doesn't over run it in the next 10 years, it's so beautiful, as is the Naxos old town market streets. So much atmosphere with the shops.and tavernas. We cannot fault the Proteas Hotel, we loved everything about it. Walking up the (very slight) hill back to the hotel each night after dinner was part of the charm. Walking down the dirt road path to the beach with goats and chickens in the paddocks, and then opening onto the salt flats before you hit the beach was so beautiful and so traditional, rustic Greeka, like it used to be before tourism planted it's feet. All we need to do now is save our $$ for 2 years to be able to get back there again. Since covid border isolation finished the world's airlines have doubled the cost of their airfares. Coming from Australia you're looking at approx $3,200 per person, then add hotel and spending money, it's an expensive exercise. That said i'm already saving to get back to Naxos /...
Read moreWe absolutely over our time at Proteas and wholly recommend it to anyone coming to Naxos.
The room was a very good size with a large bed, decorated very nicely. There was a radio by the bed which played a Greek radio station which was a nice touch. The shower had good temperature controls and had good variable pressure. The room was spotlessly clean. All of the rooms here have amazing views. We were on the ground floor and had a table and chairs outside, as well as a personal line for drying clothes.
There is a small pool open nearly all day, until 9:30pm. It was warm and clean. The hotel is a medium size, so the pool was never very busy even though the hotel was fully booked.
The staff could not be more helpful. Our check in had lots of useful information and we felt welcomed very warmly by the staff. They were very relaxed and helped with any questions we had, and were most helpful when booking a taxi when we departed.
We had breakfast here one morning and it was of very good restaurant quality. There are a lot of choices. I enjoyed the Naxian scrambled eggs and my partner had a great omelette.
The location is excellent. The bus from the port costs 2⏠and comes to Lagos Mare hotel which is a 4 minute walk from the hotel. Make sure you tell the bus driver where you are getting off. Agios Prokopios beach is a 7 minute walk away and is considered the best beach on Naxos. The strip of shops and restaurants is about a 10 minute walk away.
Our top tip is to book with the hotel directly, we were given a bottle of wine as a perk for doing this.
We loved our stay here and would have loved to stay longer. If we come back to Naxos we will almost certainly book to come here again.
Overall, amazing value hotel in a great location that serves good food in a relaxed...
