My friend and I booked this hotel through Love Holidays, fully aware it wasn’t a five-star property, so we weren’t expecting much. However, even as someone who isn’t usually fussy, I was shocked by the lack of cleanliness and the appalling treatment we received.|We arrived at midnight to find the hotel completely dark, with the door locked and no staff in sight. As two young women visiting Rhodes for the first time, this was terrifying. After panicking for a while, we called the emergency number listed in our booking. The response was to send us to a different hotel down the road, with no explanation or apology. Nowhere in the booking details did it mention a check-in deadline or that we might be sent to another hotel. If we’d been informed about this possibility, it would’ve made the situation much less stressful.|After staying the night at the alternative hotel, we returned to the original hotel in the morning, only to be told our room still wasn’t ready. How could a room I had booked for the previous night still not be prepared by the morning? We had to carry our luggage around while we waited, further ruining our first day.|When we finally got access to our room, it was far from acceptable. Several power outlets didn’t work, there was a dirty tissue lodged in the bathroom ceiling, a stain on the bed, and a horrifying blood stain on the shower curtain. To top it off, there was mold on the showerhead. Frankly, I would have felt dirtier after using the shower.|We had also booked breakfast, but it was a nightmare. The food was cold, surrounded by flies, and the dishes didn’t complement each other. They served cereal with no milk, and my vegetarian friend couldn’t trust the utensils used for the meats and cheeses.|Fed up with the poor treatment, we decided to raise a complaint. We spoke to the receptionist, explaining our frustrations and asking for an apology or some form of compensation. Having worked in customer service ourselves, we understood it wasn’t the receptionist’s fault specifically, but the lack of empathy and the rude response we received was shocking. He refused to apologize and even raised his voice at my friend. It was the first time we’d ever formally complained, and we were left feeling unheard and upset.|Unfortunately, nothing was done after our complaint. The room was never cleaned, and the issues remained unresolved. This experience seriously dampened our holiday. No matter the rating of the hotel, cleanliness, respect, and comfort should be guaranteed—and I received none of these. The only redeeming quality was the location, but it’s not worth the hassle. I would not recommend...
Read moreJust checked in. 5 AUG 2023. We got three rooms. First time in my life I paid for the hotel stay up front. However, I had to little kids and two elderly women.
Room 207 The freaking balcony door doesn’t lock. Called the desk and the lady told me…wait for it…”it’s okay”.
The A/C unit purred like an engine.
The room smelled like bleach. I understand you clean, but you don’t leave the room smelling like bleach. People sleep there.
Room 307. The mattress was literally a sheet of plywood. I have slept in more comfortable camping grounds.
Now, I usually hold off until the stay is over to leave a comment or review. But given I paid upfront and received these kinds of rooms, it is hard to resist not informing everyone.
Update: 09 AUG 2023 We got moved from room 207 to room 303. So we went from a four person down to a two person room. Fine. At least the door to the balcony locked and the mattress was nice. However, the cost would need to be refunded, correct? Smaller room, less money…NOPE!
Room 307 As I mentioned above, the mattress were just not going to work. I literally wake up with back pain. So we asked from day one to have them replaced. Still, we haven’t received anything. It is just unreal how one cannot make such a thing happen. I mean a mattress is integral to a hotel. One would think, you have a few spare ones or you replace them over time.
Update on bathrooms. Just look at the photos. I mean, the little details of this place matter. Details show what the owners and management think of their costumers.
Breakfast was and continues to be a literally heath hazard. There is food left in the open with doors wide open. No enclosure. I am not talking cans or some other item packaged. I am talking cheese in a plate with flies crawling all over it. Scrambled eggs in a bowl uncovered. It is a literal health hazard and germ spreading station not a breakfast station.
The city and island health and human services, especially, in light of recent public outbreaks MUST visit this breakfast station. I will add photos to help see the real hazard.
Update: 10 Aug 2023 I see the owner and management are on a blitz to flood the review board. I added photos of them to flag how fake these 5 star reviews are. It is so obvious these are fake reviews. They have no room numbers. In some cases you can actually see the accounts are locals. Likely friends or just paid accounts to...
Read moreThe best thing about this hotel is its location, right in the centre of the “new town“ of Rhodes Town. Everything of interest is within 10-15 minutes walk - the old town gates (entrances), Elli beach, the port, bus station and countless bars and restaurants. It really couldn’t be more conveniently located.|Unfortunately, the worst thing about this hotel is … its location! Because it’s central, you get the inevitable nighttime noise that comes with that. Not from bars or clubs but just intermittent noise from passing cars, mopeds or people, throughout the night.|Our room was front facing with a balcony (although with no outlook worth mentioning), it was spacious and furnished with modern furniture. The only downside with the room was that it had twin beds as opposed to a double so, we had to push them together- I don’t know if they had any actual double beds.|The room is serviced daily and you can get fresh towels whenever you need them.|The bathroom was small but functional, however it was a bit dated, eg old tiling and a shower curtain. The lack of proper shower screen was a pain because not only does the curtain stick to you when showering, it doesn’t reach the shower tray so, the bathroom gets flooded every time you shower (but there is a drain in the floor so water doesn’t get into the bedroom).|The breakfast provided was a disappointment to us. Although there was a fairly wide range of food, the “hot” items were rarely more than luke warm, eg fried eggs, omelettes, etc. They were kept in Bain Marie’s but they weren’t switched on so the food just got colder. Hot water was provided for tea but that too was left on the side in metal “teapots” and became lukewarm pretty quickly. You can ask for fresh hot water but you’ll have to wait while they go and boil some (some days we boiled water in our room and took it down with us). Plenty of bread was provided but no toaster. Also, no fresh fruit was provided. They have an urn for coffee so why not have one for hot water? Also, even a domestic toaster would be better than nothing.|One other thing we didn’t like was that there was no safe in the room (even though the hotel info stated that they did). In addition, you have to leave your key at reception when going out of the hotel. Although we had no issues, we always use a safe when abroad, just for peace of mind.|To end on a positive - the girls on reception were...
