Overview||This hotel is nice and in a decent location. The drinks are good and the room is decent. The food could have more variety. Entertainment was standard. Would consider staying again.||Hotel||First impressions of the hotel were good. The interior of the hotel is modern and gives a city hotel vibe. We were greeted well and was offered an upgrade to a swim up room. Staff took our bags to the room and took the time to explain everything. We had pool towels already on our room but I think others need to get them from the reception. Staff were friendly throughout. The pool is huge and there's a decent amount of sun beds. However, all brollies are fixed which is a little annoying as beds are often in shade. Theres also other sports facilities which I can't comment on because we didn't use it. Theres a shop on site which was fairly priced when compared to the main resort shops.||Room||The room was nice enough. As noted, we stayed in a shared swim up room. The pool didn't appear to get sun at all but this may be the time of year (October). The pool was obviously cold. The sun beds were on the opposite side of the pool which you had to go out of your room, out the hotel and through a walkway and gate to the rear. There were deck chairs and a table on the room side of the pool. The room we had was a good size with plenty of space to store suitcases. What it did lack however was storage with limited coat hangers, drawers and shelf space. Our AC was broke when we arrived but the staff went out of their way to sort it offering us a fan and even a change of room which we declined. It was fixed early on our 2nd day anyway. The shower cubicle was tiny but the shower itself was powerful. You get little bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap and body lotion which weren't replenished. There is liquid soap in the shower and by the sink. You get slippers and a robe which I appreciated. The pillows werent the comfiest.||Food and Drink||Theres a decent list of AI drinks and you could request other combos with things on the menu. Shout out to both the bar staff on the main bar in an evening who always remembered our drinks orders often making them without having to ask which is a nice touch. Service was pretty quick even when busy. They were very efficient. ||The pool bar service was also pretty efficient with the same drinks list. The pool bar served snacks through the day inc greek salad with gyros, burgers, hot dogs, chips ect as well as mini deserts.||Food in the main dining hall.... What was there was tasty but there wasn't a huge variety we did eat every day but there were a couple of days for me where I didn't eat a lot as it was a struggle to find something (fish night and I dont eat fish) and I'm not an overly picky eater. Lunch and dinner were similar. It did get a bit boring. The kids selection was exactly the same. Only served cheese pizza lunch and dinner. Breakfast was fine with everything you'd expect. One thing I would suggest is that the grilled meat is started before 7pm so its ready when you go in.||Entertainment||Tuesdays is the entertainers day off. The entertainment is standard. There were 3 entertainment members. They were fine. They only really spoke to us when they wanted money from us for t shirts or bingo. They spent a lot of time with the kids and their favourites. There were a few guest acts which were really good. The bingo was expensive at 10€ for prizes including a bottle of the AI fizzy wine, t shirts, spa voucher, 1 AI plus drink then cash. There were the usual things going on in the day. The entertainment was in the space at the front of the hotel which could have done with more seating. Everything started quite late. The kids disco most nights was 9:00 with the entertainment starting at 9:30.||Location||The hotel is close to the main area of Kolymbia Beach. There's not loads there but there's a few good restaurants and bars and loads of souvenir shops. There's a couple of supermarkets. The beach is just at the back of the hotel. Can't comment much on this as we didn't use it. The bus comes just round the corner from the hotel close to the "I love Kolymbia" sign. K8. It's 4€ each way to Rhodes Town and Lindos and they run reasonably regularly. Or even more regularly from the end of...
Read moreWe recently returned from a thoroughly relaxing holiday at this relatively small and low key hotel. Situated on Rhodes East coast just a 30-40 min transfer from the airport.
On arrival at the hotel, we received a warm greeting from Anna Maria, together with a glass of fizz and refreshing cold towels. Anna Maria was polite, warm, and professional every day.
We were shown to our room and given a mini tour of the features by a lovely & polite, young man. I'm so sorry, I can't remember his name.
The room was clean, modern, and well maintained. As others have mentioned in their reviews, the bathroom is tiny, but it's perfectly functional, and how much time do you spend in there anyway ? We liked the electronic ' room occupied ' sign ( not more cardboard signs falling off the door handle) and helpful USB sockets.
We had a lovely balcony with table, chairs, and clothes dryer rail, overlooking the pretty gardens and pool area.
It was my husband's birthday during the holiday and the staff surprised him with a delicious birthday cake, fruit and fizz in the room. What a treat !
Food throughout the stay was great, even for a vegetarian like me. The salads were fresh and plentiful. As in other all-inclusive resorts, there was a fresh cooking station, ( Inc omelette at breakfast), meats, potatoes, pastas, fish, breads, nuts cheeses and desserts, etc.. together with a kiddie station. A special mention must go to the flavoursome ice creams and the wonderful ( whipped) yoghurt at breakfast. 😋 We didn't eat anything from the pool bar as the food at breakfast / lunch was plenty for us. On offer were typically, burgers, sandwiches, chips etc. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and also quick to clear away dirty plates.
There were plenty of sports available, should you wish to be active. Ping pong, tennis, boules, etc, and a large pool. The animation team worked hard to get the guests involved in the activities. The gym was quite small, so we didn't use it ( that was our excuse anyway 🤣). We booked a couple of massages in the spa, which were great.
In general, we prefer beaches over pools. There were three beaches within walking distance. The closest one ( accessed at the rear of the property) by the pretty harbour and church, had approx ten pairs of sunbeds belonging to the hotel. These were taken quite quickly in the mornings and sometimes by the locals having a quick dip! There was an independent restaurant on the beach which also hired sun beds, should you need them. The water was gently shelving and clear for the most part. The beach futher down the road (to the right of the church) was much bigger and the water was clearer. There were water sports available here but no real amenities.
The hotel was directly opposite a selection of shops, bars and cafes and a stroll from the main ' high street'. It was lovely to pop out in the evening and browse in the gift shops etc.
We didn't see all the evening entertainment, but the Greek night ( music and dancing) was thoroughly enjoyable and fun for all those who participated.
We were lucky enough to experience the upgraded drinks package. All I can say is, I would thoroughly recommend paying for the premium cocktails. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the basic cocktails, but the premium ones were the best cocktails 🍸 we have ever had at any hotel. Especially, the strawberry daiquiri, the Hugo and the pornstar martinis, which were amazing ! The bar staff worked very hard to serve everyone quickly and efficiently. A special mention to George & Paulis for looking after us.
We'd also like to thank Panormitis for making our stay so special.
We have visited other Leonardo hotels in the past, but the staff here in Rhodes are truly standout. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they're focused on ensuring guests have a wonderful holiday.
If you're looking for a relaxing holiday with wonderful staff who go out of their way to make your stay special, then this is definitely the place for you. We'd love to come back sometime.
Thank you...
Read more7 night stay as a family of 4 with 2 kids, 6 and 9.
Rooms: Spotless, cleaned every day. TV, beds, wardrobes, safe, Air-Con, generally a balcony. Everything that you would expect, chances are you won't be spending a lot of time in the rooms so are very adequate.
Food: Very good quality. Canteen style for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snacks served from around 10am to 6pm at the pool bar area (burgers, hotdogs, pizza, gyros, chips, prepared sandwiches). Food is varied, some themed nights. Salad section is really great, then you have various sections with meats/rice/vegetables etc and of course, a dessert section. To note: there is a live cooking station type area in the main dining area that are always grilling and cooking "fresh' food if more your thing. Meal times: breakfast (7-10:30), Lunch: (12:30-14:30) and Dinner (19:00-21:30).
Drink: Pool bar that is generally manned by Sakis during the day (more on Sakis later). Can get your tea, coffee, beer, wine, cocktails, ice cream and slushies here near the pool. The "main bar" is also easy to find and the staff again are excellent, friendly (notice a trend here) and great at knowing who is next. Local spirits, beer, cocktails and house wine are all good, there is also a premium section for cocktails such as Mojito and Espresso Martini etc where you can pay per drink if you need to.
Location: As we had smaller children, we didn't venture out too far, there are ample walks nearby (suggest Kolymbia Rock, set out early with water though as it's punishing as the day gets hotter, do not climb during the hottest points without hydration). There's also beaches nearby which we briefly visited.
The best asset of this hotel however are the staff.
Reception: from the moment we walked in (at 2am!) we were made to feel welcome and relaxed. Easy to approach and knowledgeable, always happy to help. Pool towels available here, €10 deposit per towel (CASH ONLY) which is returned upon the return of the towel and the towel card you're given.
Car Rental: we didn't use this service but the lady that was in reception offering this was always really friendly, greeting us with a smile.
Spa: again, we didn't use this but the ladies again were friendly.
Cleaning: as previously said, everything in this place is spotless and you always see the housekeeping and maintenance staff working diligently keeping everything looking as it is supposed to. Very hard working and friendly. There is a safe in the room but we had no qualms about leaving some possessions out and they were never moved or tampered with.
Restaurant staff: The food is always freshly prepared, The staff are always walking around ensuring that everything is kept clean, and the food is regularly changed if it has been out for a certain amount of time. The chefs are really good. The food tastes great, they are obviously experts at their craft. The staff in the restaurant that clear away plates are really friendly, attentive and never intrusive.
Bar staff: this is the part where I can name people, as is who I had the most face-to-face dealings with. First of all, any staff not mentioned may just be that I didn't catch their name, every single person here deserves a mention. They are all really great. However, the staff that stood out for us as a family are;
Sakis: this gent is truly great at his job, he is so friendly, makes an effort to remember your drink order, will learn your name if possible and is always there to say good morning and ask how you are. Sakis really made our time special.
George: at the main bar, similar to Sakis, friendly. Learns your drinks and always smiling.
Entertainment: Andrea, Alan and Romain are a credit to the place, they are so friendly, especially with the kids, our 2 loved spending time with them playing and they are lovely guys. Please get involved with them, don't be shy you will really be glad to get to know them.
We will genuinely miss the staff here,...
