I'm really sorry to say that the price doesn't exactly match the quality one would expect.Starting with the cleaning,I found a smoked cigarette on the small balcony we had in our room and ashes all over. The metal bars surrounding it were rusty and peeling at some spots. The hair dryer also was full of dust and I don't know if it has ever been sanitised. Also there was so much dust on the TV control. And I believe that the top shelves of this open space meant to hang our clothes have never been dusted ans cleaned, and at some point when they cleaned our room the placed our pillows over there. Now moving on to the breakfast,it is extremely simple, and was expecting some higher quality.First of all,the only juice available was orange juice, and it was the kind that you get and mix with water and taste nothing like oranges.I asked and they didn't have anything else other than that. The forks and knives seem oily and I've picked some that had food leftovers on them. And now, about the cream pie + scrambled eggs part, first time I tried to get some the tongs not only weren't specific about which one is for which, resulting in both of them being used in both of the eggs and pie,but also were laid plain on the serving table, which doesn't seem sanitary to me.There was a really small variety of foods, and especially if you follow a lactose free or gluten free or vegan diet, your choices are seriously limited. Lastly,as a hotel worker myself,I would love to see some more smiles and enthusiasm at this hotel. The conversations with the staff I had were plain, and I did felt like I was wasting their time. The best one I've talked was the last receptionist when we checked out,who was patient, kind and didn't lose her cool when we had a bit of a confusion with the payment (because we weren't the ones who booked it) and helped us through it.Congratulations to this woman. Otherwise,I got the idea that they weren't really into talking or have any more friendly behaviour towards me. I wouldn't visit this hotel again, unless they did some serious work on their cleaning and their...
Read moreUnfortunately, I’m not able to rate the Hotel Luxembourg based on its qualities and facilities. I booked it for 1 night from April 8th 2025. But 2 hours prior to my check in to the hotel the Turkish Airlines informed me that they had to cancel my flight on April 9th and the only option available for me was the flight in the evening of the April 8th. I immediately contacted the Hotel Luxembourg explaining the situation and asking them not to charge me for this 1 night stay as it came as a very negative surprise to from the Airline and an absolute force majeure, even despite the fact that my booking was not refundable in normal situation. The Hotel replied quite fast informing me that my booking is not refundable and they will fine me 100% of the stay tariff. I tried to explain them that it was a force majeure and it’s not my choice not to stay at their hotel - but useless. They charged 100%. And they even didn’t bother to reply to my last message. And it was Tuesday, low tourist season. Definitely more than half of the hotel was empty. I can't appreciate all the delights of staying at this hotel, but I can definitely appreciate the indifference, the absolute lack of understanding, support and hospitality from the management of this Hotel Luxembourg. Totally disappointed! If some travelers care about where to stay in Thessaloniki - I will definitely not recommend Hotel Luxembourg. Go to The Modernist Thessaloniki, which is also in the city center and is absolutely wonderful - both the facility itself and the fantastic staff. This is my completely honest review, with no desire to offend or punish Hotel Luxembourg in any way. But they definitely need to work hard on their...
Read moreOriginally we were going to stay at the Makedonia Palace Hotel. I am very glad we didn't. Though I didn't see the inside of the Makedonia Palace hotel so it may have been wonderful. But the hotel Luxembourg was in a WAY better area. Perfectly situated by tons of bars and restaurants and shops all within walking distance. The walk to the white tower was maybe a mile. We did it every day. Walking by the water is very nice. The hotel Luxembourg has five floors. Or four in the European style where the first floor is floor zero. They we're remodeling the top floor when we were there so I bet that will be very nice soon. We had the junior suite on the third floor. It has one bathroom between two sides of the room. One side has a nice four poster bed. The other side has a couch bed. So it's pretty small to squeeze four people in but the couch bed wasn't uncomfortable. They make up the room every day. They didn't complain that we had four instead of the recommended three people. There is a mini fridge. Bathroom is small but fine. Elevator is teensy and fun. I like the round staircase too. The lobby is nice for hanging out in. The room comes with free breakfast every day! And the food is really good. Tons of choices, eggs (scrambled or boiled) sausages, lots of pies (cream, spinach, potato), pizza for some reason, slices of meats and cheeses, lots of different breads and bagels and things (even sweet ones) cereal and yogurt and peaches and tomatoes and cucumbers. Honey, Nutella, butter for spreading. As well as a fancy coffee machine and Cocoa and juices and teas. You just have to get down there...
