Memorable Dining Experience at Clochard

As a Greek-born individual living in London for the past 22 years I recently had the chance to visit Thessaloniki. After a long time away, I couldn’t have chosen a better place to relive those cherished memories than Clochard.

From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our knowledgeable waitress, Athena, and attentive waiter, Vasilis, guided us through the menu, ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. The senior management team, with their impeccable service and attention to detail, added to the overall ambiance.

The food was simply divine. The cold and warm starters was a refreshing burst of flavors, while the main courses were cooked to perfection. And for dessert, was a decadent indulgence. The champagne selection was equally impressive, with a wide range of options to suit every taste.

Clochard’s elegant ambiance is perfect for any occasion. The soft lighting and ambient music create a serene and inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a memorable dinner with a loved one or a business gathering.

Whether you’re a fellow Greek or simply a fan of Mediterranean cuisine, Clochard is a must-visit.

Clochard Team, thank you for making our night so memorable. We hope to see you again soon!

Nestled in the heart of Thessaloniki, Clochard stands as a beacon of culinary excellence, seamlessly blending tradition with innovation. With its elegant ambiance and impeccable service, this restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience that resonates with both locals and visitors alike. My recent visit was nothing short of spectacular. Beginning with the fresh oysters, each shell encapsulated the pristine essence of the sea, offering a briny delicacy that awakened the palate. The octopus and cuttlefish dish followed, showcasing tender, perfectly grilled octopus accompanied by a medley of flavors that paid homage to Mediterranean traditions. The highlight, however, was the pasta alle vongole (I visited 2 days in a row just for this dish). Al dente pasta intertwined with succulent clams, all enveloped in a light, aromatic sauce that spoke volumes of the chef's mastery. Clochard's reputation is well-earned. Its commitment to sourcing the finest ingredients, combined with a menu that celebrates both local and international cuisines, ensures a dining experience that is both authentic and innovative. The staff's attentiveness and genuine hospitality further elevate the experience, making every guest feel valued...

I do not recommend this place. If I don’t have the habit of leaving gentile reviews, I will say “Avoid It.” I feel my experience was a waste of money and time. As a relatively posh restaurant, it has a high price. All at first I thought it was fine because you paid for the decor, for the vibe of a fine dining. Unfortunately, that meal was not fine at all. The main course was over salty, so I kept drinking water. The young receptionist was warm and welcoming, but the much senior waiter was inpatient and cold. I understand every one has a unique personality, and actually it’s quite rude to think people in the hospitality industry must keep smiling. However, I do felt uncomfortable when my waiter talked with me in manners as if he hoped to avoid the talk! And to be worse, you paid for a prepackaged meal and such an experience for a high price, a price two times higher than the average price for a lunch/dinner in Thessaloniki. I dined with a few well-to-do restaurants at the port, which were supposed to be expensive, and the bill was half of the money I paid for this one. If you would like to have a sip, the wine list is okay. But as to me, I will find somewhere else either for a formal dinner...

Everything was wonderful, once we walked into the much cooler dining room and were seated an amazing birthday experience had begun. Food began with a gazpacho and parmesan amuse bouche to prepare our palettes for the food to feast. Oysters followed by starters of steak tartare, mushroom dumplings and veal cheek moussaka - everything was presented beautifully and the taste matched - perfectly balanced and interesting takes on each of the plates. Mains were angler fish, beef variations. Everything cooked to perfection. Although there was scarce enough room to fit dessert, we tried a local chocolate and cream delight and tiramisu, the tiramisu was probably the only miss of the experience but the other one pictured with the candles was delicious. Local red wine was the accompaniment which was attentively kept topped up, as was the water. Panos (hope this was the shorter version he gave us) was professional throughout and refreshingly gave honest opinions and options. Thanks to Clochard for a highlight dinner of the holiday.

Undoubtedly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. It was my first time at Clochard’s new location. Service was exceptional-staff was extremely nice, friendly and attentive. We were served a complementary soup as a starter - Green tomato gazpacho with traditional Greek cheese inside, exceptional combination! I found it lovely that the portions of the main dishes were quite big. I had the rigatoni with the fish of the day, and the sauce and caviar excellently complemented with the fish. We tried the crepe Suzette for dessert and it was prepared incredibly and burned in front of us, I was very pleasantly surprised by it since I have a very low tolerance for sweet things, yet I found that it had just the right amount of sweetness to not take away from its intense citrus flavour. I couldn’t recommend Clochard more, I think it is a must for any seeker of a fine dining experience in Thessaloniki.

We visited this restaurant because someone has recommended it. First, we selected many items from the menu that were not available. Then we ordered some salads and a raw fish which tasted good, we also ordered pasta which came in a good presentation but had an average taste. We also ordered a grilled fish that took a very long time to be served, and when it finally came, it was undercooked. I spoke to the waiter about the undercooked fish, so he suggested replacing it with another one, but at that time we refused because we were already feeling full and did not want to wait long for the new fish, so the waiter told us that he will take the plate to the kitchen to let the chef check the item, but he never came back with any response and didn’t take any action. I wonder how would anyone think about such an experience.
