Full disclosure that we didn’t actually stay here. We did pay for the room and show up as intended after a somewhat confusing explanation of which room was actually available. The issue was with the view although the room was quite stale also. Yes, you can see the water from the caldera but it’s a limited view, especially given this price point and compared to practically everything else. Room #1 at the top has a primary view of a dilapidated quarry with a broken down building, cars, boats, piles of discarded tires and even a broken down oil tanker. It looks and smells like a junk yard.||||It seems that 100+ reviews seem to be ok with that view but it’s not what we wanted to look at on the last leg of our honeymoon or really ever on the caldera. It’s quite amazing that it didn’t surface in anyone’s comments or pictures but perhaps many people are on their first visit and don’t realize there are far better views for less money. A few other comments did question the legitimacy of the ratings and I completely agree. ||||After trying to convince us of the rock quarry’s “charm,” they did offer a 50% refund but that’s all they would offer. My wife was basically in tears at the thought of that view for 4 days so there was absolutely no way we were staying there. I was very surprised that they wouldn’t stand behind their brand and offer a full refund, especially since we booked only 20 hours in advance of the stay (meaning the room was going to sit idle anyway) and they were a bit shady on the phone regarding the exact room that was available. They seem like nice people but this really felt like a classic bait and switch and if it was my business I would have gladly issued a full refund. We were able to immediately book our next option, which was an amazing caldera view and a gorgeous property as we’ve come to expect and at a lower price point. We certainly won’t be booking anything away from the center of the caldera again and we’ll be leery of anything that doesn’t feel 100% transparent. Just an expensive lesson to learn while they got paid for a room they couldn’t rent to begin with. Not a...

Read moreWe arrived as guests, 7 nights later we left as friends. Kamares apartments is an absolute must for your stay in Santorini. ||We arrived to a very happy and helpful Edward, when seeing the apartments and our room we were blown away. The private hot tub, veranda and apartment was stunning and spotlessly clean. The first few evenings we were blessed with clear sunsets so decided to watch them from the hot tub with a few drinks.. Edward helped us order local food for delivery to eat as well. ||Every morning you are greeted by Ben, he is positively infectious, Ben brought us our breakfast order every morning to our veranda at any time we wanted, kept our hot tub clean and ready for us at any time. We had so many good chats with him and there was never a day that went by he didn’t ask what we were up to. ||Maria is the morning receptionist, she is brilliant as well, ask Maria for all the top local places to eat away from the bustle. Edward has good recommendations but be prepared to pay for them 😂😂 (he likes the Boujie side of life!) ||The cleaners are incredible we popped out for a run one morning by the time we got back the apartment had been done and to such a high standard. ||Kamares is a magical breathtaking place that blew us away but without a doubt Maria, Edward, Ben and the team make it a home away from home. They care so much about their guests and it shows in every interaction with them. ||The only improvement we could possibly think of is to have nespresso machines in the room (we told Edward this and he helped us order coffee deliveries!!) that’s just because we are coffee lovers and no fault of Kamares! ||In terms of Santorini, use the local buses to get around at 2euro a trip you can explore the whole island including your airport transfers every hour. The Fira bus station is just a couple of minutes from the accommodation. Listen to all the guys recommendations of things to do and you will have the best time. ||We would rate this a million stars if we could and would one million...
