Modernity Suites — Hotel in Municipality of Thira

We booked the Modernity Suites in Fira, Santorini through Voyage Privé for my wife’s 50th birthday in August 2025. On arrival, everything started off strong: the transport arranged by the host was first-class, a smooth 10-15 minute ride in a nice vehicle, and we were warmly greeted and helped with our bags up the charming cobblestone streets. Just a note for future travelers: if you have mobility issues, be aware the walk up might be a bit challenging.||The staff at the suites were excellent, and we were given a top-floor apartment with absolutely breathtaking views over the caldera. The scenery was truly sensational, no complaints there.||However, there were a few significant downsides. The apartment itself was quite small and lacked adequate storage space. We also had some issues with the shower being a bit faulty on and off.||One major problem was the communal terrace above our apartment. There was no security or signage to keep it private, so we were constantly disturbed by tourists at all hours. This really took away from the relaxation factor. On top of that, the location, while scenic, was right near a nightclub that played loud music until the early hours of the morning, and we were surrounded by restaurant smells that were a bit overwhelming.||We were also asked to switch apartments on the last day due to overbooking. Unfortunately, the new apartment was even less well-maintained and had an extractor fan from a nearby restaurant blowing cooking smells right at us. We requested a refund for the last night, but the host—who is just renting out these units and not the actual owner—did not follow through, and we’ve had no response since.||In summary, unless you’re looking for a lively, party-heavy atmosphere and don’t mind the noise and lack of privacy, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Unfortunately this was the worst experience we've had in Santorini so far. I have booked the room well in advance and informed the reception that we will come earlier than check in time (just in case if they have availability) and it is celebration of my partner birthday. Upon arriving to the place lady at the reception was extremely rude. She literally had a comment to EVERY single things we did or say with pretty impatient and rude tone. I was staying up on stairs - she asked me why you standing there (while there was absolutely no room to stand anywhere). She was impatient about the documents we had to provide and absolutely rude about me saying that I have no wi-fi (What can I do?!?!? was her comment). When my partner simply addressed her attitude, she has absolutely lost it blaming him to be rude and saying - you have no idea what just happened with other guests... I completely understand we all might have situations and bad days, but you shouldn't work in hospitality if you can't handle stress, that's for sure. She was so rude to the extend that I said I do not want to stay in this hotel anymore because of her attitude, on what she responded - sure, you can cancel and find another one. Quite unbelievable how a hotel loses business because of her. Honestly, the worst attitude I've ever experienced. Also reception and sitting area is tiny. We literally went to a hotel next door - Caldera Cliff Illusion that was extremely helpful, welcoming and CHEAPER with much better views and space. We visited to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and wow! Upon arriving in Santorini I received a text message from the hotel where Vladimir met us on the road side to help with luggage and walk us to the hotel. This was very smooth. Vladimir checked us in and recommended some places to visit and eat, he was full of knowledge and experience. Our room was very clean and cosy. The room was cleaned daily and towels changed. The jacuzzi views were amazing, watching the beautiful sunset. Shops, restaurants and bars are all very close and a short walk. Vladimir honestly couldn't have done enough for us, making sure our room, stay is perfect for us. He is a very kind hearted person always willing to go above and beyond. The breakfast each morning was lovely and tasty with a food selection. If I was to visit again I would definitely stay at Modernity Suites. Santorini is absolutely...
