I have no idea how there are positive reviews for this hotel. It is very interesting, but we were disappointed because every website where the hotel lists its rooms, said that the rooms were soundproof. I don't think the hotel has its own website--in Google, when I click the website link, it goes to an error page to buy the domain. This was the noisiest hotel room we have ever experienced. We were there as part of our honeymoon and we deeply regret not choosing another hotel. The rooms are inside almost an enclosed patio that wraps around to the lobby (so there are no windows to the outside and no natural light--the room was dark). Our room (presidential suite) had 2 french doors (one on lobby side, the other ones on the enclosed patio side) and then an entry door. Oh, and there was a LARGE GLASS WINDOW on the patio side of our room! We heard the lobby music until late. And the worst part, people ate outside our room on the enclosed patio/lobby area (outside the window in our room!). We could hear conversations that people had on cell phones in the lobby (we could hear the specific words). We could hear silverware clinking on plates. We could hear drunk women laughing at their table off the lobby non-stop at night. The worst part was the mornings. Eventually the nights would quiet down. But every morning, people would show up early to eat breakfast outside our window on the lobby extension/enclosed patio area. It was very unpleasant to be preparing for the day listening to people eat and talk. Every. Morning. It felt like if we spoke too loudly in our room, we would interrupt their conversation. That is how not soundproof the room was. I have no idea why the hotel thinks it is appropriate to seat people for an early breakfast directly outside a window to a guest room. After the first night, I asked one of the receptionists about this and if another room was available. She said she would talk to her manager, but no one followed up with us. The other rooms could have been just as noisy, but it was pretty unprofessional for no one to talk to us about it. Also, no one explained to us that to have the room cleaned, you must leave your key at the front desk. And we ran out of filtered water in our room. I guess it is not checked while they are cleaning the rooms. It was frustrating not to have drinkable water our last night. The pillows were hard and flat. It was the worst hotel experience that we had in Guatemala. And one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. It is laughable that they indicate the rooms are soundproof. Before you book a room here, you should know that the room is not soundproof and you will hear a lot of noise with tables right outside the window and doors of your room.

From the moment my husband and I arrived here, we felt more like guests in someone’s beautiful home than guests at a hotel. The atmosphere is serene and tastefully designed. This hotel is a true visual delight—every corner is beautifully decorated, and we found ourselves constantly admiring the artwork throughout the space. It felt like staying in a gallery curated with care and creativity. Our room was spacious, spotless, and full of thoughtful little details that made it feel cozy and special. All the staff were absolutely wonderful—kind, attentive, and always nearby when needed, but never intrusive. A special shout-out to Ana, Carolina, and Manuel, whose warmth and attention to detail truly stood out. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. Breakfast on the rooftop was a daily highlight: fresh, homemade, and delicious, with the morning sun lighting up the volcanoes in the distance Casa Bansley is more than just a place to stay—it’s a peaceful, art-filled retreat with a team that treats you like family.

Beautiful hotel in the previous home of a British expatriate aristocrat and his American wife. Their art, family photos and her nearly 100 year old diplomas from elementary and middle school in Atlanta are on display. Three rooms around a big courtyard with a rooftop terrace. Very attentive staff.

My friends and I had a late flight out of Guatemala and needed a place to keep our luggage and a ride back into Guatemala City. Carolina, Mario and Manuel were extremely hospitable and gracious. They opened up their hotel for my friends and I to leave our luggage, and coordinated a private shuttle in a comfortable van for our transport to GUA airport. While back at the hotel that evening, we went up to the second floor terrace and caught some amazing eruptions on Fuego. When we return to Antigua, we will definitely look to stay at Casa Bansley. Thank you again Casa...
