Our second time coming back in Antigua. After the recent experience of one hotel we had before, and barely space for the bags we book a triple room.||||We booked the room through booking.com. The price was 80 US dollar for the night just before New Year's Eve in 2018.||||Good location, many restaurants around. Friendly staff - however, Pablo and Luis don't speak English but tried their best to understand you.||||We have the room on the upper floor next to a housekeeping room. At night we hear the laundry machine turning. It bothers me, as I'm not a good sleeper.||||The room is okay but there mold on the ceiling. Good free wifi.||The bathroom is small, not very clean. Difficult to regulate the hot water for the shower.||||- There was a misunderstanding with an airport pick-up.||||We book an airport pick -up cost 40 Quetzales, but the driver didn't show up. We waited for 20 minutes and still no signs with our names. Thus, we took the airport taxi cost 35 Quetzales to Antigua. When arriving at the hotel, I said to Pablo our pick up didn't show up.||||He said he was there. I said to him we waited outside for 20 minutes and no driver from Posada Dona Luisa. We don't argue about the driver that didn't show up.||||And he expected us to pay the pick up that we didn't use. No way!||He has to call his boss that we refused to pay the pickup.||||So be careful when booking an airport service with them. The driver...
Read moreBeing my first time visiting Guatemala I wasn't sure how to evaluate the accommodation options, but one thing I was sure of is that I wanted to have an easy transfer from the airport (45 mins drive) to the hotel as I arrived at 11.30pm o XMas eve. As Posada offered this option and had availability - I booked - it was a GREAT DECISION.||||The airport arrival can be overwhelming with the many taxi drivers lurking, and hoards of people waiting to welcome their family members. Our driver has a big clear sign and was an absolute delight! ||||The drive to Antigua is around 45 mins from the airport. We were thankful to have the hotel transfer as if you're not familiar with where you are, the dark drive can be daunting.||||The receptionist was helpful and quick to respond on emails. The room was simple, clean and comfortable. Location was ideal to enjoy Antigua. Wifi available. And best of all, an INCREDIBLE view from our room.||||NOTE: For non-Spanish speaking tourists (such as myself), you'll need to brush up on some basic phrases before visiting Guatemala. They cater more to the local tourists, which is part of its charm.||||I would certainly stay again.||||||TIP: The rooftop restaurant next door (with white umbrellas, hard to miss) does...
Read moreGood price, spacious and clean private rooms and quiet, however when it is raining the roof is very loud. My friend and I were woken up by how loud the rain was on the roof.
There also seemed to be some miscommunications between us and the front desk when trying to book an airport shuttle. It is cash only for the shuttle. One lady told us she could book it without cash and that when we got cash from the atm we could give it to her after. She did not tell us she needed the cash FIRST in order to confirm the ride.
Then later that evening we returned with the cash and are told it is too late for them to book the shuttle. If they had told us we needed the cash to secure the shuttle that would have been a different but they did not. We ended up booking an Uber. The overnight front desk man tried to be as helpful as possible and tried calling the other lady as well as attempting to book us a ride in the morning.
It was a higher price so we stayed with the Uber, also we had booked it the night before and did not want to risk not having a shuttle to the airport...
