Alegria Casa — Hotel in Sololá

We loved our three nights at Casa Alegria. Santos is the best host, friendly, hospitable, and a pleasure to talk to. The showers have hot water the rooms have ample storage for clothes and places to hang towels, etc. Santos built Casa Alegria himself and is rightly proud of his efforts. We didn't use the communal kitchen but it appeared to have everything one would need. The roof top and porches have laundry lines to dry clothes and have excellent views. I got some early morning photographs of Volcan Fuego erupting in the distance. Be sure to check it out before the clouds roll in. And the two perros de la casa are sweet. I stayed here for some nights after an intense training to unwind. I loved Casa Alegria and felt a bit like home there. What I liked most about this place was meeting Santos. He was very warm and welcoming and always in for a little chat. It was very special for me to get to know a little bit more about San Marcos while speaking to him. I am very impressed of the place he built step by step with a lot of dedication and patience. Good to see this place run by local people. Thank you so much Santos for hosting me. We stayed here only one night because of a booking we made in another place prior to our trip that we couldn't cancel, but it Alegria is truly amazing.
