I stayed 8 nights at El Delfin Hotel y Restaurants several months ago. The hotel is clean, modern, and very nice. The shower had beautiful stone tile work, hot water, and good water pressure (not a given in Guatemala). ||||The owners are the best! The take great pride in their new hotel and restaurant. They are warm and friendly and will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. One day, there was no power in the hotel and surrounding area, so the owner took me on his motorcycle to his other restaurant for breakfast because I had paid to have breakfast included with the room. ||||Their breakfast was amazing! It was homemade and different every day. If you had a special request for breakfast, they would try to accommodate it. Their breakfast was some of the best food I ate in Guatemala so I recommend paying extra to get breakfast included with your room. The owners also own The Dolfin restaurant in town near the pier and that was very good as well. Their food was fresh, tasty, and relatively healthy. ||||Access to a small and very clean gym right next door is included in the price of the room. What few gyms exist in Guatemala are typically stocked with older cardio and basic weightlifting equipment, and this one was no exception but it served its purpose to have a safe place to workout. ||||The wifi (as mentioned) in the hotel is not good. Maybe it's better now. Also, the room I had was facing the courtyard and the music coming from the nearby bar was a little loud on the weekends, but I just turned up the fan to mask the noise. Most people would be out on the town so this probably wouldn't be a concern for those travelers. ||||The location of the hotel is good. It's about halfway between the town (go there at least once to get away from all the hippie gringos :) and the pier area. There are a few good restaurants and Spanish schools nearby. ||||I'd stay there again if I ever went back...
Read moreStayed here whilst my girlfriend and friends did the yoga retreat in San Marcus. Upon entry Delfin(owner) and Clara his wife welcomed me and showed me my room, extremely friendly along with the rest of the staff that maintain the hotel. I asked about an ATM and delfin took me too one on his bike and showed me how to navigate San Pedro eg, alley that goes to main Street. Unfortunately I got sick whilst staying here for 5 days(tonsilitis) both Clara and delfin did everything they could to make it easier on me, Clara would bring soup from their delfin restaurant in town and delfin would constantly ask how I was and even ordered a doctor to my room and sat with me. As a foreigner with little Spanish and none of my friends around this hotel and owners along with staff truely made me feel at ease and made everything alot easier on me. I was extremely lucky I had picked this hotel and Delfin and Clara are the most genuine and endearing people I've met. I couldn't be any more grateful for there kindness and willingness to help me get better. Outside of my personal experience, the room was clean tidy and felt very comfortable. Bathrooms were beautiful, bed was great to sleep on and I spent a lot of time watching HBO on the TV. There is a gym directly next door you can get a pass to use. Location is outside of the main area but only by a 5 minute walk, it's a pro as it's quieter and the walk is quiet safe. I owe alot to this family for looking after me, and the hotel definitely deserves a 5 star rating. They are a beautiful family and staff are all fantastic. Thank you Delfin and Clara and staff for being the family I needed when...
Read moreWe initially had reservations elsewhere, and ended our trek early in dire need of accommodations within an hours notice. We found this gem after a very difficult day, and instantly we felt at ease with this family owned hotel. They opened their kitchen and cooked us THE best dinner! For a nice room, hot showers, clean rooms, food on-site, jacuzzi, and perfect distance from the Main Street - the price was more than reasonable. This family has exhibited true meaning to 5-star customer service, oh and trust me - I’ve been raised in snobby towns to know what is expected in customer service! We loved it here so much that we ended up cancelling our original reservations elsewhere to spend our entire stay here. We have no doubt we would recommend family and friends, not only to visit Guatemala but to stay in San Pedro La Laguna here at...
