Pizzeria El Callejon — Restaurant in Sololá

The best pizza we have eaten in a long time!

My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and immediately received a very warm welcome by one of the 2 owners and his wife and new born.

We ordered the pizza peperoni with mushrooms and the pizza mushrooms with olives and they were both excellent. The pizzas are made in a proper wood oven, which was shown to us by the second owner, an Italian cook. The crust is thin and crunchy and the toppings excellent. To boot we were given a home made oil containing peppers and other home grown herbs to season our pizzas to perfection.

We ordered a couple of glasses of the house wine which was very good and very well priced.

This place is a hidden gem. You literally have to wandering down an “el callejón” to find it. He has a woodfired traditional pizza oven and all the ingredients you want for a fantastic pizza. Drinks are cheap (10Q for a Cuba Libre) and the pizzas are fairly priced (around $10 each). Probably one of the best pizzas I have ever had, no joke. I went for the vegetarian option and it came out fully stacked with every veggie goodness one wants. It was clear it was freshly made, and the wood fired oven meant the crusts tasted unbelievably good.
