Hotel Nahual Maya 2 — Hotel in Sololá

We are frequent visitors of San Pedro and we have stayed in lots of different hotels and hostels there, and I can say that the Nahual Maya hotel is one of the best we've had, and here's why:||||THE GOOD||- the hotel is safe and the staff is honest.||- the rooms are big and clean.||- the beds are comfortable and clean too.||- you have a private bathroom with hot water.||- there are hammocks for relaxing in the hallway (in front of each room).||- the hotel grounds are small but nice.||- the rooms have tv with cable.||- there is a parking lot for your ride.||- the amenities include soap, toilet paper and a couple of clean towels (no shampoo).||- there is another section of this hotel across the street right by the side of the lake, where you can chill out, have a beer and swim.||- the hotel is very close to downtown San Pedro so there are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores around.||||THE NOT SO GOOD||- compared with other hotels in San Pedro, the price is a bit high (Q150 or US$20) the double room accommodation so, if you are on a really tight budget, this might be an issue, but this hotel is worth the extra penny.||- the firs floor rooms might get a bit noisy.||- no AC in the rooms (the clime is not...

This was my second time to stay at this hotel and I was equally delighted with the lodging experience. They go above and beyond in cleaning the rooms, fresh linens daily and spotless floors and walls. The staff are super responsive to needs. One day our warm shower turned cold. They changed the shower head before we needed to shower again and we were back in hot water. Free WiFi is available but not very reliable except early in the morning before most guest are up or mid day when most guests are away. It has a very convenient location to shopping, food and the beautiful lake Atitlan. There are some sweet Guatemalan ladies who sell their beautiful handmade jewelry nearby. Lovely hotel, overlooking the lake. You cannot book this hotel online but if you are visiting friends get them to reserve you an upstairs room overlooking the lake. Beautiful views and a lovely little terrace.|The gardens are immaculate and everything is very well looked after.|The staff are really sweet and helpful.| The room was really clean, they changed the sheets and towels every day.|No shampoo, just soap provided.|Free coffee in reception.|Really close to the dock and on the Main Street but pretty quiet at night.|Slightly more expensive ( still really cheap compared to other places ) but well worth it.
