This is a very tired, old and badly managed hotel. The only redeeming factor is that the staff, on the whole, are pleasant and try to make things better during your stay, but they cannot change what is a hotel crying out for renewal on so many levels. You might think the entrance and restaurant is ok, though the red long back chairs are very odd, must be something unique to them or some long standing joke. It is not a 4 star hotel, it's more a 2 star in terms of quality and service. The rooms are nothing like the adverts, which are heavily edited images used on website or other booking agents. The reality is all the rooms, furnishings, linen, carpet are old, dirty, dusty and tired. Our pillows had a very human stench, on checking we realised it was yellow, with urine-like stains, saliva build up. Even the replacement pillows were the same standard. The dust, from years of neglect is thick, and you can see it on radiators, carpet underneath bed, headboard, even on coffee machine. These are serious breaches of care, and amount to serious health and safety failures. Broken fixtures are de rigeur: radiators, faulty windows, fly nests, locks/latches, insecure bathroom mirros, taps etc. The toilet brushes were covered in faecal matter, causing a vile stench. Top tip, clean your toilets properly, and you wont need a toilet brush, so you can get rid of it, as it's disgusting. When you request a change of pillows or linen, the same is returned even though they have a written pledge saying we offer hypo allergic of other pillows within their brochure. Most rooms suffer serious noise nuisance from electric storeroom and other low frequency murmurs (humming) typical of old large hotels. Many of the standard/comfort (no irony intended) rooms have constant noise from bathroom fans, many of which don't switch off and are acknowledged by staff (shoulders shrug) as a problem. Also as many have pointed out, the walls are super thin, so expect to hear your neighbours talking, snoring, everything. The breakfast is basic, only the sourdough bread is half decent and reasonably fresh. The cooked breakfast is pretty awful, eggs, bacon, greasy sausages etc. The coffee is dire, like something out of the 80s; the fruit selection is pretty bad, some of it out of tins; only good thing during my stay was occasional strawberries. The cucumbers etc were always stale old, reused. The boiled eggs were absolutely disgusting (black on opening) and will lead to food poisoning at some point. The buffet breakfast area was chaotic and poorly arranged tables/chairs laid out badly, making it dangerous to carry items to tables. Also a huge problem with smokers, and smoke drift coming into rooms and hotel. I'm pretty sure EU Regs make it clear what the rules are on smoking away from buildings, a fact unheeded by hotel. The equipment in room coffee pod maker was never cleaned, with dust and limescale. The kettle given to us was in a bad shape, with limescale and safety issues (unsafe cap/lid) could cause a serious accident. We spent our first two days just changing rooms, sadly apart from a little more space, the quality, standard of the rooms were the same: all dirty, dusty and with safety issues. I was so glad to leave, return home to a clean bed, clean linen, clean floor and windows that opened and closed, oh and no noise from neighbours or murmurs from electric cupboards. Will add more photos soon, I've plenty of examples. What's worrying is reviews from 4 years ago were complaining about the same issues and the hotel assured them they would renovate rooms. So there's misleading and misrepresentation to boot. The hotel is like a tourist trap, it relies on one visit, because no one in their right mind would return.

I've stayed at Leonardo Hotel before at least 3 times when Javad was at reception who was friendly. This time my stay wasn't so good. I stayed at Leonardo Budapest from 11th - 22nd November (11 nights) for business and pleasure to celebrate my birthday with friends. During my stay at one point there was an incident which took place in the Hotel on Sunday night 17.11 and I made the receptionist/Management aware of which involved use of CCTV's and I never got any reassurance or closure for this, the Hotel's front desk Manager (Gabor) will knows about this theft that took place the Leonardo Hotel. On another topic - I was in room (604). The radiator was broken and had cracked and on the 2nd day the thermostat came off as tried to turn the heating down as the room was very hot and stuffy. I informed reception about this. I handed the radiator Thermostat valve to the receptionist and they said they will get it fixed by plumber - a few days later nothing was done and I had to sleep with window open and radiator on full - I have attached photo and as you can see the thermostat had come off and radiator had broken. The receptionists needed prompting. Some staff were polite when spoken to but never followed up my request. All bedrooms had a single duvet for a double bed - surely for a double bed you require a duvet to cover it. The bathroom towels were tiny and the water came up from the sink drain when I ran the tap - not a big issue but it was blocked. The floor in the bedroom looked dirty as well. Eventually they upgraded me to 606 which was better. The was one gentleman at night at reception who checked me in at 23:00 never even said good evening just looked up and said "What's your name" do you have a reservation? Can I see your passport" he looked unhappy and depressed. Maybe "Good evening and Welcome to Leonardo Hotel" etc would have been nice the least bit appropriate. The walls were not sound proof and I could hear other guests talking and making heavy breathing noises which made me feel uncomfortable when I was trying to sleep and switch off so I had to wear headphones. The breakfast wasn't bad but there could have been more choice for cereals. I did ask for some more milk at 09:45 to one of the servers and they said "we close soon so don't put it out" but there was 15 minutes left and for the money I am spending and the amount of nights I am staying at Leonardo hotel I expect better and this goes back to the follow up re my room 604 about the unresolved radiator issue etc. They didn't even ask "how is your new room?" how is your stay?" I am polite to all receptionists and even showed some Magic I do on my own accord and expect politeness back. As I handed my keys back and luggage tag back not one of the receptionists said "have a safe trip back and we hope to see you again.." One evening I wanted some hot water for my tea and all of a sudden I got told off for using the hot water in the breakfast canteen. He said "It's closed" - well I get it but all I wanted was hot water, it's not rocket science to figure out I was just getting hot water for tea. Noga at reception was polite and friendly as were the two Filipino servers at the bar. Nikki helped with a few things as well, despite no issue being solved re incident and my radiator. The location of the Hotel was good (only a 10 min walk) from Corvin-metro. Otherwise, I hope Leonardo Hotels can reflect back on this for comfort of future guests.

We recently enjoyed a 5-night stay at the Leonardo Hotel Budapest in a comfort double room. The check-in and check-out process was efficient and hassle-free. The hotel's location is a big plus - nestled in a quiet residential area yet close to public transport, restaurants, and grocery stores. This offered a convenient base for exploring Budapest while providing a peaceful retreat at the end of the day. The room itself was spacious and clean, with housekeeping providing fresh towels and a new water bottle daily - a thoughtful touch we appreciated. An additional perk was the controllable air conditioning, ensuring a comfortable room temperature during our stay. It's worth noting that the walls could be a bit thin. We occasionally heard noise from neighboring rooms, especially in the mornings. However, considering the hotel's overall value for money, this wasn't a major drawback. In all, we would definitely recommend Leonardo Hotel Budapest to anyone seeking a comfortable and affordable stay in Budapest. Its convenient location, clean rooms, and friendly service made it a great choice for exploring the city.

This hotel is great--if you get a "suite" room. We stayed here a total of 7 nights in three weeks-2 different stays. The first day, we got a small room with a pillar that went up through it. It was the first week of Sept. 2019 and it was warm. The AC was weak but fairly adequate in the night. We asked for a "suite" room and got it for the next two nights. It was really large, with perhaps five times more space than the other room and a huge bathtub and shower. The AC was better than the first and we were cool enough and comfortable. Hotel service is excellent, the Hummus restaurant downstairs is great! We checked in again on Sept. 26, 2019 into another "suite" room we reserved in advance. It was very large with a different configuration than the previous "suite" room on the 6th floor. The AC was great! The desk people in both stays were extremely helpful. We had a view over the courtyard and a large part of the city. We checked out before bed on the last night. The desk scheduled a 5 a.m. taxi to the airport and had a bagged breakfast of sandwiches and fruit prepared to take with us. We paid with our extra Hungarian combination forints, Euros and credit card with no problem. So, again, be sure to get a suite room at the Budapest Leonardo and you should be very happy. The two we had were both on the 6th floor, No. 611 and 614. The neighborhood is great, with a Vietnamese, western BBQ and another café across the street. And forget the big tourist thermal baths! Go to the Dardan baths on Dardan ut. nearby. Baths and massages for us both for less than $60 Euros! Take hotel towels. They say they rent but don't.
