Since the filipino bbq dinner closed couple if years ago this is probably the only place left in Hungary which offers a little bit of a taste of the Phillipines. The caffe itself small but has places to sit inside, upstairs and even outside the street. As the name inclines the coffee beans are barako, coming from the Phillipines. It has a much aromatic sweeter taste than arabica. You have a large variations of coffees to choose from, as well some filipino sweets, cakes ice cream pudding etc. They even serve ube (it's a south east Asian fruit, a must try) ice cream and even halo halo one of the most popular sweets in the Phillipines. The coffee itself is very good, and since it's not from the mostly served arabica it will give you a different experience as usual. The prices are in the middle scale for the drinks, the food itself is a little more expensive than expected but since it's no other place in Hungary to try those it's fair. Coffee beans are also sold from 250 - 1000 grams. Its cash only or revoult, which can come as a surprise this part of the city if you are not prepared. All in all a great experience if...
Read moreWhen I found this place and saw they had lechon kawali on their menu - we had to come here for dinner! Didn't realize it was attached to a hotel. The prices were a bit on the expensive side but the food was definitely worth it. At first we were disappointed since they didn't have the lechon on the menu (despite a review dating 3 days prior with a picture of the menu had it) -- but we asked our server and she said they can make it. It was beyond delicious - it was crispy and fatty and cooked beautifully. The accompaniments were roasted eggplant and bokchoy with jasmine rice. One of the eggplant pieces I got was undercooked so it did not taste good and the bokchoy was too salty but I'm still giving 5 stars for the lechon. I ordered an Arnold Palmer which ended up tasting only like lemonade (no ice tea) with fresh lemon juice so it was still really tasty. We also splurged and got dessert - Ube Maja Blanca. It wasn't what I expected but it was a pleasant surprise. There is sweet, salty, crunchy with a hint of Ube flavour and then the chocolate sauce on the bottom had a kick to eat🌶️, overall very yummy food and...
Read morePro: I like the Atmosphere, the restaurant is clean and located in a very green area of the city. I enjoyed the Halo-Halo (the Philippines famous street drink).
Cons: I was there during the weekend lunch time; it was not crowded. Unfortunately, it took for more than 30 mins for them to prepare my foods (Chicken Adobo and Halo-Halo). Unfortunately, I noticed this slow food preparing also happened to the other tables next to me. Not tasty Chicken Adobo. Chicken's Adobo soup has always been the magic whenever you want to enjoy this meal. However, they just only gave me like a tablespoon of the Chicken Adobo's soup, thus, it was very dry. Bad customer service experience. The waitress successfully welcomed us with a grumpy mood. Not even bothered to say sorry when our orders came very late. I was also requested for Chicken's Adobo soup, unfotunately, she was reluctant to deliver my request to the chef.
OVERALL EXPEREINCE It is so unfortunate that this Philippines Restautant is not best in the town, due to some cons. However, I would love to go back only for...
