Located within walking distance to the main street and directly opposite the whale watching centre. Ample parking lots in front of the apartment. The check-in process was smooth as we emailed the apartment host a day before check-in to request for instructions via email due to no local phone number for calls or text. The apartment is spacious and has a separate bedroom from the living and kitchen area. The kitchen was well-equipped with cookware, microwave oven (too difficult to use), fridge and coffee machine. The bedroom has plenty of space to put the luggages and has blackout curtains. We opened the window as it could be a little stuffy at night. Agree that a fan will be very helpful. As for the bathroom, do bring your shower amenities as only a 3-in-1 handwash, shampoo, body wash and towels are provided. The best part of the apartment has to be the washer and dryer. We were midway through the trip and could do our laundry with the detergent provided. As for noise level, our apartment is located on the third floor. We could occasionally hear some noises but nothing too loud for sleep. Overall, one of my favourite places to stay in Iceland and will stay here if I return to Akureyri.

We had mixed opinions about this place. Overall mostly okay, with a few things that could be improved. Check in is contactless, we received an email saying to contact them by phone an hour before arriving. I told them we had no phone, but they simply said call or text us. This meant we arrived to the apartments with no way to get inside. They need to have a process for when international travellers don't have access to a mobile phone service. The apartment is lovely, new and well kitted out. We had a top floor apartment with a great view looking south down the Fjord. It got quite warm in the room, as there was no instructions on how to turn off or down the heated tiles. The fire alarm also went off twice during our stay due to other apartments cooking. (And fire alarm can't be heard in the bathroom which is odd)

I stayed at this property for 3 nights. Situated just across the bus stop that picks up and drop off passengers travelling from/ to Reykjavik. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Communication with owner is easy. Apartment is clean and adequately stocked for basic comfort. The view from some loft units face the sea which is refreshing to wake up to. The only negative of the loft units is the ceiling around the windows are very low. I bumped my head several times during my stay. The other minor negative is the coffee cups provided are very tiny. Difficult to clean and too small to fill up for a decent cup of beverage. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay.

Hrimland ||This modern, immaculate apartment block is situated in an ideal, quiet location overlooking the waterfront but close to shops/ restaurants. The interior public areas were astoundingly well-maintained. Access to the building and apartment is via a key code which is very convenient. However the downside for foreign visitors is the requirement for expensive mobile roaming in order to receive the code!! Inside, our apartment was spacious, clean and very well designed/equipped. Everything was provided including dishwasher tablets & washing detergent. Operating instructions in English for the appliances would have been useful. WiFi was excellent and there were plenty of useful sockets/USB. Lighting in the bathroom was excellent, there was copious hot water, and plenty of space for one’s toiletries. Generally it was very quiet but during our 4 night stay, 2 were disturbed by noise/vibrations from washers & tumble dryers in other apartments with inconsiderate guests using them into the early hours of the morning!! There needs to be an additional ‘house rule’ added to the list - “no appliances to be used after 10pm”. The only other improvement needed is the provision of mugs/cups. There were 6 of everything (crockery & cutlery) and a total of 26 glasses but only 4 mugs (and they were tiny!). We could have thrown an excellent drinks party but having a decent-sized mug of tea was impossible!!! (We even contemplated buying a couple of...

We had a very good stay at Hrimland. The apartments have free parking and are a short walk to the city center. Note: there is no front desk here, you must either call or text to get access on the day of arrival. If you don’t have a. International plan this place won’t work for you. We texted about an hour before arrival and then, exactly at 4pm (when check-in starts) we got our access code. The apartment was clean and comfortable. We had one-bedroom which could accommodate four by using the sleeper sofa. We had just the two of us and think four would have been far too crowded. The bathroom is at the end of the apartment, so you walk from the bedroom through the living/dining area to the bath/laundry. We stayed here two nights and found good restaurants not far away. We were in the middle of traveling Iceland’s ring road, so used our stop here to rest up, do laundry and recover. Be sure to have Google Translate if you want to use the washer. Otherwise the control panels were incomprehensible! We got quick answers from management before our trip (yes, they provide laundry detergent!) and good response when arriving and...
