Nestled amidst the bustling array of coffee shops in town, Kaffi Ilmur emerged as a beacon of warmth and flavor, drawing me in for three consecutive days of pure delight. Each visit was a testament to its unparalleled charm and unwavering quality. However, what truly set this cafe apart was the genuine kindness exuded by its owner, who not only crafted impeccable beverages but also showered our family with genuine warmth, particularly adoring our little one.
My daily indulgence, the vanilla latte, proved to be a symphony of flavors, consistently delivering on its promise of perfection with every sip. Beyond beverages, the culinary offerings were a tantalizing adventure, each dish a masterful creation that left our taste buds craving more.
For those in search of a harmonious blend of ambiance and excellence, Kaffi Ilmur stands as an unrivaled destination. My heartiest recommendation is bestowed upon this haven of culinary bliss, where every visit promises not just a meal, but a cherished memory to be savored for days to...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our lunch at Kaffi Ilmur. It was crowded and chaotic downstairs where the register is. It is also where you order coffee and other menu items. All employees were kind and working hard, but I felt confused for a while. They do not accept AMEX card so I had the get back in line with another credit card. The lunch buffet is upstairs (you can play before or after). There is also a restroom at the top of the stairs. The buffet was tasty with carrot soup (which was creamy and didn't taste too strongly of carrot). Even my teenager enjoyed the soup. They have a few kinds of salads like cole slaw, beet, potato salad. There was also cut up pineapple. Hot foods included potatoes, salmon, meatballs and chicken in a cream sauce. They also had a couple types of bread with butter. As a vegetarian, I walked away very satisfied. They take reservations (which is probably a good idea with a larger group) or you can just walk in. I definitely recommend a stop into the adorable yellow home-style restaurant when...
Read moreWe strongly don't recommend this restaurant for lunch. The two stars are only for the place - nice old house. We ordered lamb soup, trout and herrings and lamb chops. We were two people and we got these three dishes together at one time. So it was not possible to eat them all at the same time. The grilled lamb chops were the worst lamb we've eaten in Iceland, it seemed it was just lamb with cheap grill spice from a supermarket prepared on a pan. We got it with overfried potatoes which were only fried oily something - they weren't potatoes, I thought it was just semi-product from supermarket. The trout was cold - I didn't expect it and toasted bread wasn't toasted. And more, the herring was just pickled herring like you can buy in a supermarket - nothing special. The restaurant was not cheap so we expected delicious food for this money. The dishes were really substandard. The worst we have had in Iceland and also the...
