Starting with the positive, their specialty drinks are phenominal. We tried the whiskey sour and the cherry tree and both were 10/10. If I were looking for a place to grab drinks, this would be the place. It was Saturday and they had live music outside. They were busy and the atmosphere was lively. The fried cauliflower dish was delicious. All the ingredients
Dinner service starts at 5pm. The food here is good but didn't feel it was quite 5 stars. We ordered several different things. The kids fried chicken was a little dry. The beef shortrib tacos and the deep fried chicken tenders had very similar flavor profiles for being different dishes. Both were good by themselves but I wouldn't order together. I think in Iceland food is served salted on the heavy side. Definitely better than being underseasoned but for those sensative to salt, it could be a problem. The cod and the kids tenders were heavy on the salt. For dessert, the Creme Brulee was delicious but there wasn't much custard, maybe 1/2 centimeter.
All in all, definitely a place worth trying but when compared to other restaurants in Akureyri, I don't think it lives up to 5 star hype. I would go here for drinks and appetizers but for a nice dinner, maybe try one of the other local...
Read moreSpent about 15,000isk here tonight for dinner and was the worst meal we’ve had in Iceland so far.
Dont order the Centrum burger. Doesnt live up to its price level 4650isk. So tiny. Worst burger weve had in this trip. They dont know how to make good burgers here. Truffle fries also barely taste like any truffle. Dont buy it. We didnt even have it at all except a few bites and just leave it at our table. I rate this place below average—the worst we’ve had during trip in Iceland because of taste, price and service of the male staff. They don’t give water right away. This must be hard for older people since they want you to use the QR code than talk to the staff. The man with eyeglasses doesn’t know how to talk to diners politely. We were more polite to him than he is to us. We politely requested water and he seems irritated with our simple request. He should understand that people have long journeys maybe before coming to this town and it would be nice if they provide water like other decent restaurants before we even asked. It was hard to call the staffs attention here. The other female staff are really nice aside from him. July 22,...
Read moreWe went to this place at 6pm on march 12th. There were not a lot of people there but we had to wait for an HOUR for our food because they forgot to put our order in the system…. When I went to the staff to complain, they ignored me and my friends for 10 whole minutes!! Then finally when they “apologised “ with one free drink (without saying sorry to us or showing any regret or remorse) they gave us alcoholic drinks despite us having told them TWICE that the drinks could not have alcohol in them (since one of us is a recovering alcoholic). To top everything off they tried to blame us for they’re own error by saying we hadn’t mentioned anything about non-alcoholic drinks… in return we got bad drinks that we were unable to drink. When we were going to the cashier to ask them to make up the horrible time that we had they said they could only give us 20% off our orders, we haggled it up to 30% but we still felt unsatisfied with our experience. In conclusion, the staff was both incredibly rude and disrespectful, rolling they’re eyes and ignoring us - and our overall experience was just terrible. You won’t be...
