Intentionally bad service. Americans beware. We had 7:30 pm reservations and arrived just before 7:00, finding easy parking directly across the street. There is no hostess station so we checked in at the bar and said we'd go out and sit on the nice sized roof-top deck for a drink before seating for dinner (photo). We got our drinks in 1/2 hour. At 7:35 I decided they were not going to bring us to our table so checked back in at the bar and were seated at a very visible table in the middle of the dining area. The hostess pointed to the table and handed us menus, there was no presentation, welcome, or offer the explain the menu items, we already had our drinks from the deck. We both noticed none of the staff appeared happy or cheerful. A waitress appeared fairly quickly and we ordered a sushi appetizer to share and 2 entrées. The sushi appeared in a timely manner, was placed on the table silently and the waitress left. We sat for a bit until I flagged her down and asked for plates (photo of sushi and no plates). We finished the sushi and it was taken away. While chatting with a British couple at the next table who were seated just after us, we noticed they had bread. I flagged down a waitress and asked if we may have bread also. She replied "if there is any more", in an uncertain manner. Bread soon arrived. The couple next to us were served, ate, and left. After the staff started resetting multiple tables, I remarked that maybe we weren't going to be served at all and at 8:55 flagged down a waitress to inquire about the status of our meal. This was an hour and 25 minutes after our reservation. Our dinner was served 7 minutes after that, we ate, and sat around for a few more minutes. No one came to collect our plates or ask if we wished desert (we did), so we walked to the pay station at the front and asked if the poor service was because we were Americans? The hostess literally ran off and the bar tender appeared to ring us up. I told her we had done nothing to deserve this sort of treatment and she neither offered an apology or even acknowledged there was a problem. I was still stewing over this the next day. Needless to say I will never eat there again (though the food was good), and I recommend Americans avoid the place until the current Iceland tariff is reduced and/or the general perception of Americans improves (the Icelanders used...

We had a delicious meal here. The views over the harbour from the top floor restaurant are stunning and this definitely has a fine dining feel to it.

The staff here were very attentive and helpful.

We started with complimentary bread and chilli butter which was delicious. The bread was soft and fresh with a crunchy outer crust.

For staters, I had the tempura cauliflower sushi (2,490kr / £14) and my mum had the arctic char (3,990kr / £22). These were good.

For mains, I appreciated that there was an option to try traditional Icelandic potatoes and pickled vegetables, but with tofu rather than meat or fish. This was packed with flavour, including a fresh pesto and pumpkin puree. This was 5,690kr / £32.50 which feels expensive and is by far the priciest main I’ve had on this trip (even by Iceland standards!).

My mum had the salmon which came with similar accompaniments and was a good portion. This was 7,490kr / £42, so similarly pretty expensive.

Overall I’d say that the service, ambiance and food here was really good. However, considering the price, we ate better and more affordable...

A redeeming experience and top quality service. After coming here and having a sour experience while trying to have a nice birthday meal the previous night - when the place was packed and the staff was having a hard time - where we ended up walking out due to seating issues that went against our wishes during the booking process, we were called up by the restaurant the following day and offered a new table to make up for our experience.

The place was not nearly as busy, with the staff seeming much more relaxed. We were treated to a very nice 3 course meal, the beef tenderloin being absolutely brilliant. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and the food arrived quickly. Our waiter was the same one from the previous night and was an absolute gem of a human. Would recommend.

We do have some sensory issues and felt that the room could have been sound treated better as sound from other patrons traveled very easily and harshly across the whole room, but all in all a fantastic experience though. Thank...
