Gestinn Guesthouse — Hotel in Reykjavik

This is a great little guest house, The staff are warm and welcoming and often I found myself standing in the halls having a casual chat with my hosts, who were also more than happy to tell me which were the best spots in the city to visit (sights, bars and restaurants) and they also helped me to arrange a couple of my tours.

The rooms are basic but are kept to a good standard and the breakfast facilities were also good. The building is located on a quiet little street roughly 13 minute walk to the high street with a few shops and local restaurants nearby so handy if you are on a late tour and want a quick meal later in the evening. This is also one of the main pick up points for the tour operators working in Iceland and so pickup and drop off from the various tours is handily right on your doorstep.

If I ever go back to stay in Reykjavik then I would be quite happy to book again at this hostel and would recommend them to anyone...

I got to be honest, it wasn't so bad but there were things that I didn't like at all. The bathroom was basically the space underneath the staircase, too small and barely useful. The shower was in a door accessible from the kitchen, I mean, the place where you normally store your food, it was refurbished into a small shower, dark and smelly with barely ventilation....the room was big, the bed enough for a nite (they must to be use to this kind of mattresses in Iceland thou) ... The kitchen had more or less everything you need but the stoves were not working and they didn't give us any alternative , so we had to go out for dinner (not a.big deal, but if you are trying to save a bit, this won't...
