Northern Comfort Apartments — Hotel in Reykjavik

This place is just great for a base in Reýkjavík, the studio was fully equipped and then some: fresh and clean towels every day, you can opt for having your room cleaned every day (albeit we opted out as we only stayed 4 nights).

Free parking across the street, grocery store Bónus in the next building, everything you need in walking distance.

We were told upfront that there was no early check in available - but upon landing in Keflavík and getting our rental 4x4 we gave the owner a call and asked nicely if there was any possibility to check in earlier than 3pm.

He was very accommodating and politely told us the current tenant still hadn’t left (this was at 9:30am), but said he would contact us as soon as the studio was vacant and cleaned.

And so he did 😊👍🏼

Just before noon he called and welcomed us to check in at our own convenience, he sent us codes to the front door and explained how the studio was self catered and asked us to call any time if we needed anything during our stay.

This was a clean, hassle free and delightfully peaceful place to stay - we are already planning our next trip to Iceland and will most likely stay here again (if vacant on our desired dates).

And about the owner being rude is a matter of perception and what...

In the beginning of pandemic situation the owner was vey supportive and professional and issued voucher for one year.. due to pandemic is still here also and restrictions for traveling I kindly asked for extending voucher because I couldn't make it till end of April 2021.. The owner ingibergur Thorkelsson was so rude, unprofessional without any understanding for situation. EU countries including Iceland continue to ban non-essential travel (tourism) specially for citizens coming from non EU countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina where I am from. He did not wanted to extend voucher (i did not ask for money because my accommodation was non-refundable and I wanted to come Iceland even pandemic was not over). Other hotel which I booked in Reykjavik extended the voucher even till 31.12.2022 without any problem for it. He gave me offer for booking new days but I needed to pay difference because price in April 2020 was lower then but after several emails. The hotel refused my request for extending. If you are planning a future trip to Iceland, I strongly suggest you consider another accommodation. The reviews have been positive up until now but I think that we learn something in this pandemic that we should apricate our time and spending money specially when we need to go...
