We enjoyed our stay here. We chose it primarily because the tour buses stop right out front; not true at all other hotels here. Quiet location. Beds are firm but comfy. Super clean and modern “Scandinavian” design. Friendly, helpful front desk staff. Free breakfast buffet offers typical European fare of cold cuts, cheese, fruit and hot granola type cereal. Nice coffee machine makes multiple kinds. TIP: no USB outlets in the rooms so bring your own phone charger and of course a power converter if you are from the USA. All the outlets are the large European type. Just saw a power converter with USB ports on it... great idea! Food Hall is easy 5 minute walk away, with 10 different affordable restaurants under one roof. Also outside the Food Hall is a big bus stop to help get you around town. Get the free STRAETO bus app so you can pay online and not need exact change. FYI--- Best place for lots of restaurants is Ingólfur Square. We enjoyed the "Cute Pig" Gastro Pub with a pig on the sidewalk out front. Best burgers ever! Not a tourist trap, but very much a locals place. Many other choices in this small square. BONUS TIP: There are a lot of taxis waiting nearby if you need one.

Overall Hotel: Nicely decorated, lots of seated areas on the ground floor to sit, rest and relax after exploring the city. Reception has complementary coffee to warm you up. Parking: complementary. Underground carpark is great because in snowy conditions, your car is dry and snow-free. Tip: park outside the hotel, check-in and when you get your card-key, you can use it to enter the underground carpark. There’s a place to scan your room card-key on the right hand side on the way down to the carpark. You can go from there straight up to your room. Staff: very friendly and helpful. Anything we needed advice or help with, they knew. Breakfast: complementary with our room. I really liked the way it worked, clear your table at the end and it keeps lots of tables free. Continental breakfast with a great selection - meats, cheese, bread, fruit, porridge, cereals, croissants, hot and cold drinks / juices. Rooms: very clean, tea and coffee, TV (with English channels) mini-fridge, street-view, does the trick.

This room was sold to use as. Superior with balcony or north facing view. No balacony, no view, just the building opposite. It also advertised a games room, which was closed for the whole of our stay. Building works happening at the hotel and all around the hotel but no advisory given about building work. Hot water was hit and miss each morning, sometimes we had hot water, sometimes we didnt. Advertised doubles and twins, however no doubles not even a double duvet. Seating at breakfast was tight each morning, some seating in the corridor. To add, 08:30am on the dot, building works alarm clock, not how i would choose to wake up and if advised about building work, i would have booked elsewhere regardless of any extra expense. TV of an morning, as we like to watch the news before head out, randomly would lose nearly all channels The room however was clean and tidy, but not a fan of the very noisey but small espresso machine. Personal preference, we prefer just a standard kettle.

If I could give -10 stars I would! I got to the hotel earlier than my checkin after an overnight flight and was exhausted. The receptionist said “good news, your room is ready” I was so excited and then he said “but it will be …approx 40 dollars US if you want to check in early”!! I asked but it’s ready and no one else is checking into it can you please let me? The guy was super rude and said no. So I waited until check in. Another person on my tour got a different receptionist and he let her check in at 9am!!

The tour returned a few days later and we all checked into our rooms early, with the different receptionist. I was given a room opposite construction and wanted to take a nap before the next tour but couldn’t! On the Sat morn I was woken up extra early bc of the loud drilling and banging. The woman receptionist said that they have called the union and police bc the construction shouldn’t start early and I shouldn’t have been given that room bc some rooms are blocked off bc of the construction.

Well, checkout is at 11am and the mean rude receptionist called me and told me to leave the room at 11am. I had been told by my tour company that checkout was mid day so I asked if I can have the extra hour until 12pm to checkout. He said absolutely not, we have guests coming at 3pm. I told him about the construction and lack of heat (another problem) and if he can let me have a bit of time to get my stuff together and he said “ I did not know about these problems but ok, you WILL check out now”. He was so so rude. Same guy at checkin. He should NOT be working in hospitality.

Short version: rude receptionist, inconsiderate, poor service,...

arrived at the hotel straight from the airport, check in was supposed to be later but we waited and our room was done pretty quickly, which was good as we had an infant that was cranky. The cleaners when we got up to the rooms where still on the floor and one of them was making special effort with my child and another helped with bags as it was a bit of a struggle. The room was small but they arranged a travel cot which was brilliant. The shower was good, the room was warm the water was hot, we had a kettle and a fridge which also makes travelling easier. We did end up buying souvenir mugs as the tiny cups are pretty useless. The reception staff where helpful, the information/souvenir stand was good too, had a lot to offer however was unmanned quite often. The bar is small but it has beer and vodka so can’t complain, the barmaid was helpful when we asked directions, she gave us a map and showed us where to get the bus etc. The tours and transfers pick up from the hotel and if you need to add another thing to your trip the staff will help you sort it. I thought the breakfast was ok, however my partner was disappointed at the lack of bacon and sausage. There was pastries, bread, fruit, eggs and cereals and a coffee machine (tiny cups again) so you had enough to get through. Location was excellent. There’s a grocery shop near by, and once you find your bearings getting anywhere is easy, close to food, shops and a couple of museums. A walk to landmarks isn’t too far either such as The Sun Voyager. Also the bus station...

The hotel's location right next to the centre (1 km). Breakfast was good but nothing special. We were able to leave the car on the same street as the hotel, but we were lucky because all the streets around the hotel are paid parking.||We didn't like · There were three adults, and this was the only hotel out of the ten we stayed at in Iceland that gave us a fold-out bed at floor level. The receptionist checked the booking and said, ‘Ah! It's from Booking...’ and gave us a room on the ground floor with three small windows at street level, so everyone passing by could see us. We had very little privacy and had to close the blackout curtains. The hotel is very large with many floors, so it's surprising that they gave us that room at street level. We checked in at 4:30 p.m. The breakfast itself was fine, but they don't have enough tables for the number of rooms in the hotel. Guests had to be a bit crafty to get a table... otherwise you had to wait a long time for a free table to sit at. All the streets around the hotel have parking meters, as if it were a blue zone in Spain. You have to go about 2 km away to find free street parking. The photos do not correspond to the room we had, perhaps to those on the upper floors.||Finally, I would like to mention that the pillows are hard and thick, which is bad for your neck. The three adults in our group couldn't use them because after half an hour we had...
