Friendly and accomodating staff. We were walking in the Street and randomly noticed that escape game. We had a couple of hours left and asked if there was anything free.
We made the room with the dolls. It was quite disappointing. The lighting isn't good in that room. It felt like they tried to create some horror ambiance but it turned out to not be that scary and instead being quite annoying. There were a few hand lights in the room but only 1 was working for 4 people and if we were barely moving it'd keep blinking or just stopped. We couldn't parallelize our search and had to stay in group super close for a while. Then when we moved out to another room of that escape the first light turned on (but wasn't needed anymore...).
The decor was quite minimal. Felt a bit cheap compared to some other escape rooms we've made. And the clues / things to find were OK but far from the best we've seen.
We managed to get out 7 mn before the end but were so confused because we had 2 locks left to open, timer kept going and no one was there to tell us we were done. We just thought we opened the door by mistake somehow and ended up waiting 5mn before someone told us that no we really made it but took a little shortcut and didn't need the 2 locks left.
Maybe the other rooms are better and didn't have a full support because we showed up unannounced 🤷♂️. But that was not really worth the stop as the room was a bit disappointing compared to all the others we've done in...
Read moreFor an escape room, Reykjavík Escape is definitely in my least favourite top 10 list. As there is no competition in Iceland, anything passes really. Did two rooms there, got out of the scientist with 15min to spare, didn't escape the prison. The whole approach is very impersonal, you have to read the brief of the room yourself on the door, and at some point, staff will come to let you in, and then some time later the timer starts. There's no background music, nothing to generate anticipation or excitement, and generally low production value inside the rooms. The rooms all start at the same time, when you look at booking online, so clearly if they have more than one group, they will be stretched a bit thin. The first time I went, we were the last group to get in and it was about 15min past the start time despite getting there early. The help is got via phone where you text for help and hope they respond quickly enough. Some puzzles are good, and others don't make any sense and seem to be generated just for the sake of having another puzzle. So overall, not an experience I could recommend for that amount of money paid. There are some discounts available at times via other providers, but you're better off going to laser tag or something else for...
Read moreI am appalled by the lack of replies i have received from this place. My boyfriend and i had booked to go on the 12th of October, when we arrived we were told there was a glitch in the system and the room was double booked so we either had the choice to get refunded or choose another availability. As we were going home the next day, choosing another date was not an option. The next day, the 13th, i received an email to say they are sorry to inform me about a glitch in the system and asked if i would like a refund or to change the date. I was already slightly annoyed by this as i was receiving this the day after my booking. I reminded them that i found this out when we turned up to our booking. I also reminded them i wanted a refund. From here i had no reply off them despite me emailing twice. The next reply i got was on the 19th of October of an employees personal email saying they just need my details to be able to refund me and they would be able to do it straight away. I sent them this almost immediately on the same date, i am here 4 days after that still waiting with no reply or no refund.
