Came here for dinner while spending one night in Reykjavik before going on a week long cruise. Walked here from the nearby Canopy by Hilton hotel.

Based on the reviews my bride and I were looking forward to a solid meal. We were definitely NOT disappointed, the food was GREAT! To start we split the Brussels sprouts - wow, about the most flavorful we have had. I mean, my bride doesn't really eat these but we both chowed down and they were superb. Hot, filled with flavor, crispy...delicious. Next up she ordered the burger and I had the cod. She thought it may have been the best burger she ever had. My cod was fantastic as well. Just a truly awesome meal all around

For those of you who prefer a snooty wait staff and linen tablecloths - this is not that place. You order your food at the bar and find a spot at one of the large communal picnic tables (inside and out) and it is brought to you. The place can get a little loud and there are a few different restaurants to choose from (hint - the ice cream/gelato spot is also good). Like most restaurants in Iceland the food is not cheap - we paid $79 for the appetizer, 2 entrees and a beer plus soda to drink. But when back in Reykjavik this place will definitely be on our list of places to eat at!...

I came here seeking a cod dish with dill- and that’s exactly what I found! BEAUTIFUL dish. I asked for lots of dill and they gave me plenty of dill and dill oil to satisfy, I was so happy with the meal! Very fragrant and earthy.

I had a hard time finding the diner at first- look for a black building on the pointy corner of the street. It’s sharing space with other restaurants inside the building. VERY warm inside btw! They had a lot of different wine to choose from and modern menu items to choose from- yes they have an English menu available as well. Not as pricey as other upscale modern diners but all the class so I WILL be coming back! Thank you Kröst!

*Please be patient- they make everything fresh for you! I watched them make the fish, roast my taters, and process the dill oil and it was super worth the wait! :) Saying “dine with patience” because I had a gentleman sitting next to me at the bar get very frustrated a massive meal that he ordered was taking too long for them to make- I literally watched as they were preparing each ingredient fresh...

Kröst was the best meal my wife and I had in all of Iceland. The ambience of a restaurant in a food hall was unique, and dining at the bar top was wonderful! The lamb and cod were exceptional in all regards. We were left wanting more and more and more, even given the generous portions. The French fries were the ideal complement to our dinners, and dessert was the cherry on top of a perfect night (panna cotta with pop rocks served on a plate with a balsamic glaze - oh my!). If anything was better than the food, it was the service. Sebastian was perhaps the friendliest and best server we have had in all of our dining across the world. He was kind, quick, diligent, and funny. Kröst is at the top of our list, and we highly recommend it if you spend any time...

My boyfriend and I ate at Kröst twice when we visited Iceland back in January. The first time we went for lunch where we had the Grilled cod. The second time we went for dinner and had the Duck confit and Crème brûlée (which one of the chefs even came and served to us personally while he explained the components of the dish!). All the dishes were absolutely delicious and they’re definitely among the best meals we’ve ever had. The service was professional and quick, and although it was a busy evening, the waiters were very observant and had everything under control. The prices were very affordable for the quality (at least compared with prices in Denmark). We will definitely be back if we ever visit Iceland again!

Conveniently located within a food hall. kröst is casual but yet provides quality fine dining level food. I had one of my best cod dishes at Kröst out of my Iceland trip. Fish is meaty and perfectly cooked. We ordered the summer meals which also come with a pairing of a glass of sparkling rose, which worked beautifully with the cod. The other dish we had was a burger, which was satisfying. It came with fries that are crispy and served with a spiced ketchup that's part Asian (5-spice) and part icelandic (licorice). Lastly, we also had an order of arancini made with mushroom risotto? It was fried nicely on the outside, and the whole thing was nicely seasoned. When in Reykjavik, don't sleep on this spot.
