One of the good things about travellers' hostels is that you are on the same page with everyone who comes visiting. Almost everyone. A certain vibe makes you feel at home that not even the best five-star hotels can offer. There is an instant camaraderie, and everyone opens up to everyone else. And by the time they leave, they are not only enriched sharing their travel tales, but also planning their next trip too!
That is Zostel Visakhapatnam for you ladies and gentlemen. I had been at the place for five nights, and I met some amazing people there who were mostly travelling, while some of them were working and travelling on the weekends.
At the many hangout places in the hostel we chatted endlessly about not just travel but different cultures and traditions that India is proudly home to. Every time a new guy used to join taking the discussions till late into the night.
When we were not talking animatedly, we had the wisdom and the guidance of the owner Mr Ravi Kumar who shared his immense knowledge about the people and the places and the tour operators. He gave me so much information about the places that I have decided to come back in quick time.
For example, he said the whole of Araku Valley would be painted yellow in October when the mustard and sunflowers bloom. It is a sight to die for.
Similarly, there is the cave beach on the Visakhapatnam-Achutapuram route, called Seethapalem beach. Also, he said there is a huge Chilka-like fresh water Lake on the same route at a place called Kondakarla Ava, which is around 40 km from Vizag.
He updated me of the the couple of treks that are famous in the place. And one of it includes waterfall camping after a short hike.
He also regaled me with stories of his stay in Pondicherry and advised me to stay at Ostel, the best beach front property there. Simultaneously, he advised me to go and work in Auroville for the real experience.
And he freely shared with me his contacts at Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh where I'm planning to visit this October.
He also told me of some of the best places to eat and drink.
Now for the details of the property.
Location
The hostel is close to the RK Beach, which is just a kilometre away. And the entire stretch of the beach road that goes on till Bheemili is peppered with museums, restaurants, coconut groves where you can unwind and go on long walks...

Read moreDear Team Zostel, You have touched my soul. Yeah I am a solo traveler however I never felt this vibe anywhere else. You meet with different unknown people and place is so friendly that you vibe with everything. Special thanks I would to give Mr Ravi who made sure everything goes smoothly. I still remember on my recent stay over there that, while coming it was too late in night and while going it was too early in the morning however being the owner of this property he has no ego, very down to earth. He himself picked me up and dropped me. Would like to thanks Mr Praveen for preparing tasty coffee even very early in the morning. He used to wake up too early just for my coffee. There was another guy in kitchen (somehow unable to recall the name) he is also helpful. They have cozy places to spend time and do some games, places are awesome to click snaps as well. I really have no words to say. The ambiance, the staffs, environment, location overall all experience over here were too good. They celebrated X-Mas in a very cute way. So friendly people. You meet all unknown people but you will never feel alone. I really enjoyed alot. I came alone and it was my first experience in Zostel. However, now I am going with lot of memories. Really Recommend. Worthy Visit. Lot of Love and...
