Review based on a visit in July 2023. The ever changing dining scene in the port city is bringing about new restaurants and concepts. In this city, where the public has fewer options (compared to a larger metro), it causes a situation of lack of exposure to great flavors or experiences. In such an environment, any new restaurant will get a 5-star rating very easily, sometimes just with a unique name. Just open Google maps, and you will find several that are above 4.5 rating. Restaurants that deserve a 5-star rating have a great experience. Example: valet parking, better ambience (not just visual but appealing to all five senses), prior reservations because it is usually booked, exquisite cutlery, white table cloth and folded napkins, better furnishings, well groomed and well mannered staff, a well thought-through menu, with nutrition and allergy information and options for those with specific food allergies, well groomed staff. Most importantly, it must be different from other establishments and make you want to come back.
Coming to this place, Biryanis and more - The definition of a biryani is that the rice and meat must be cooked together. However, this restaurant missed that completely in order to increase the number of varieties on the menu. No matter which biryani you pick from the menu, the rice will taste the same as it is cooked separately, and the meat is added as a topping. Coming to other aspects, a lot has been spent on the decor and ambiance. But it does not justify the premium pricing. We went at around 8 pm. Luckily, we found one of the last parking spots on the street opposite the restaurant. The restaurant was relatively empty as the dinner guests were just starting to arrive. Nevertheless, service took a really long time. The order was taken promptly, and the waiter was knowledgeable about the menu to make recommendations. Kudos to that. But given that they were not preparing the biryani but merely assembling it from pre-cooked components, I wonder what took so long 🤔 Portion size was just right (not too less, not too much). However, the pricing is premium. After having tasted, my best guess is that much of what we pay goes towards the overheads like rent, salaries, fixed expenses, etc. and only a fraction goes into the actual ingredients. But if the restaurant is profitable, then whatever sells will work. I honestly feel they need to make some changes - the biryani recipe is on top of that list. Even if they had fewer varieties on the menu but prepared each one separately, it would work. I hope they take this feedback...
Read moreAfter getting mixed reviews from multiple sources, we decided to try this place. There is a new outlet of this franchise that has been opened here in Siripuram, so we went to this place on a weekend evening. Talking about the ambiance, it is a simple and pretty setup - not so fancy but its a well lit setup. They have separated space from the normal dine area, which they use for private events.
As this is our first time here - we asked the staff to recommend the best seller there and they recommended us to try out the 'Dragon Chicken' appetizer and the 'Red Chilly Biryani' (as we wanted to go for spicy options on the menu).
The Dragon chicken was fantastic and had a fusion flavor of Chinese and Indian spice and I really enjoyed it. The quantity was more than what we expected which is a plus(Priced at 269/-). Coming to the biryani, it came with the biryani rice topped with Chicken preparation on red chilly spices. As the name suggests, this dish was perfectly spiced and I could feel the burst. If you love spicy food then I would definitely recommend you to try them out. The only downside I felt was the rice was a bit greasy (may be the extensive use of ghee or dalda was the reason). And the quantity was pretty sufficient for two people(Priced at 299/-).
Also they serve gongura chutney with the biryani's and I would recommend you to try it out if you like little bit of sour punch addition to your food. Staff were polite and overall it was a nice dine experience and will definitely revisit.
