Every time I wanted to go somewhere in Fort Kochi, I'd grab my car keys, walk to the car, put the location in Google Maps and find that my destination was 300-600 meters away. That's how great the location of my hotel, Niyati Boutique Stay was. We was steps away from popular streets, cafes, restaurants and boutiques and we walked everywhere! Charming rooms and heritage architecture aside, this spot is not only a convenient launch pad to explore Fort Kochi from, it is also affordable! The rooms are simple and clean with basic amenities - everything you would need, nothing more, nothing less. P S. They have a bar attached to the hotel that's so obscure, it feels like discovering a secret when you walk in. Follow @thatgoangirl for more great hotel reccomendations.

Plus: The place is great and the building is actually a colonial building inched with all legacy. We have loved the stay and would say one of the best homestays. Almost all the locations in fort Kochi are walkable from here. AC rooms are very neat, pleasant and worth for the money. Minuses: The staffs except the manager cannot communicate neither in Malayalam nor English. You need to call the manager for every favours. Infested with mosquitoes all over in the locality of Fort Cochin, this place is no exception. Non AC rooms are not worth the price. They are poorly ventilated and untidy. There is no kitchen so you cannot order even a tea.

Mom, dad and I stayed at @theniyatiexperience boutique stay during our visit to Fort Kochi. The place is magical to those who appreciate finer details. The architecture, the vaulted ceilings, the decor, art, everything captures the old world , rustic charm. Mohammed (sic) who is the manager of the property was kind, welcoming and friendly. Nothing bad to say, except, the maintenance could be better (paying closer attention to the condition of electrical fittings and clean(er) sheets). Regarding mosquitoes:make sure to close windows windows and doors during evening hours and get a mosquito spray/balm for yourselves.

Whatever you do, don’t take a suite! We made that mistake and we found ourselves in a room infested with mosquitoes (or was it some other biting bug type?), with nothing to do about it, because the ceiling had holes all over (it’s a tile roof really, not quite a ceiling). And so any kind of bug could happily just walk or fly into the room. So that night we barely slept, spraying tons of repellent all over ourselves. To make matters worse, the room also had only 2 power sockets, so we had to get creative on how to charge the phones, camera, external battery and other items we have with us, while also keeping that (nearly useless in our case) electric mosquito repellent on. And on top of that, the details in the room weren’t quite well thought through either - low lighting, falling apart shelve in the bathroom, no hand towels, dust on the bedsheets... None of these things would have really made us too unhappy on its own, but when all of these are together in one room, which isn’t remotely cheap, it made us ask for another room. But what truly made my blood boil, was how uninterested the staff was in our problems. The lady at the reception desk looked like she just couldn’t care less. Changing the room wasn’t possible, and that’s it.

Fast forward 2 hours later when our travel agency contact told her that we would be staying elsewhere for the second night of our stay and that we require a refund for that second night - magically a substitute room became available.

Truth being told - that second room was smaller but very well kept. It had a proper ceiling, had a significantly quieter air conditioning, and was much better lit. The power sockets were still only 3 but as I said - it’s manageable if it’s only that.

One more thing - this place doesn’t serve any type of breakfast.

Bottom line - get a standard room. Don’t try to talk to the management of the hotel, know that you need to have breakfast elsewhere, and you’ll be fine. Or just pick any other place nearby -...

If you're looking for an exceptional experience, look no further than Niyati. This restaurant has everything you could possibly want Beer & wine with incredible food, impeccable service, and a beautiful atmosphere. First off, let's talk about the food. The menu is filled with a wide variety of options, all of which are expertly prepared with the freshest ingredients. The Pork sausages is a must try!!!. you're sure to find something that will tantalize your taste buds. And the presentation of each dish is simply stunning, as if it were a work of art on your plate. But it's not just the food that's impressive at Niyati. The service is equally outstanding. From the moment you walk in the door, you're greeted with a warm smile and a friendly welcome. The waitstaff are attentive and knowledgeable, able to answer any questions you might have about the menu or Beer & wine list. They go above and beyond to ensure that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional. And let's not forget about the atmosphere. The restaurant is elegantly decorated, with soft lighting and comfortable seating that makes you feel right at home. The choice of music is one of a kind!. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner for two or a gathering with friends and family, this restaurant provides the perfect setting for any occasion. They do have room, but I have not stayed there. I did manage to get a glimpse of one of the room at it brought back memories of old Fort Cochin houses. What they have done with the place is simply outstanding. My Son Roque was in love with the place and he did mange to make good friends with the owner ( Frances ). In short, I can't recommend Niyati enough. If you're looking for a truly outstanding dining experience, this is the place to go. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, everything is top-notch. So what are you waiting for? Make your reservation today and prepare...

I don't easily give negative reviews. And admittedly, my experience is into a large extent related to Niyati not being what I was looking for. That is not the hotel's fault of course. I should have done my research better. It was very hot in Kochi and I had some writing work to finish, for which the hotel does not have any (outdoor) sitting spaces available. Not the hotel's fault. I needed some kind of terrace or garden to spend a part of the day. Hence, I decided to leave earlier than planned. They were nice enough to only charge me for the time spent. ||For it's price, in Kochi, this is probably good value. The location is also excellent. ||The place looks like it was once well designed, but the maintenance is not so great and the pictures in my room were very mouldy for example. I had one of the larger rooms on the first floor. Nothing wrong with the room per sé. It's basic, but that's ok. There is an extreme lack of privacy as one 'wall' consists entirely of glass and looks directly into the other rooms (and vice versa). So during the day, you are either on display for everyone to see, or you need to keep all curtains closed. ||The bathroom did not feel particularly clean, but was also not particularly dirty. The sheets on the other hand had blood and other stains all over. I think they had been washed, but the stains remained. Also, there were clothes and underwear of another (previous) guest in my wardrobe ... doesn't really speak for the cleaning services either. ||I arrived relatively late in the evening. Somebody brought me to my room without any information being provided whatsoever. After asking, I learned that it's not possible to have breakfast at the hotel. Something that I should have checked before. ||In any case, this was not the right...
