Whatever you do, don’t take a suite! We made that mistake and we found ourselves in a room infested with mosquitoes (or was it some other biting bug type?), with nothing to do about it, because the ceiling had holes all over (it’s a tile roof really, not quite a ceiling). And so any kind of bug could happily just walk or fly into the room. So that night we barely slept, spraying tons of repellent all over ourselves. To make matters worse, the room also had only 2 power sockets, so we had to get creative on how to charge the phones, camera, external battery and other items we have with us, while also keeping that (nearly useless in our case) electric mosquito repellent on. And on top of that, the details in the room weren’t quite well thought through either - low lighting, falling apart shelve in the bathroom, no hand towels, dust on the bedsheets... None of these things would have really made us too unhappy on its own, but when all of these are together in one room, which isn’t remotely cheap, it made us ask for another room. But what truly made my blood boil, was how uninterested the staff was in our problems. The lady at the reception desk looked like she just couldn’t care less. Changing the room wasn’t possible, and that’s it.
Fast forward 2 hours later when our travel agency contact told her that we would be staying elsewhere for the second night of our stay and that we require a refund for that second night - magically a substitute room became available.
Truth being told - that second room was smaller but very well kept. It had a proper ceiling, had a significantly quieter air conditioning, and was much better lit. The power sockets were still only 3 but as I said - it’s manageable if it’s only that.
One more thing - this place doesn’t serve any type of breakfast.
Bottom line - get a standard room. Don’t try to talk to the management of the hotel, know that you need to have breakfast elsewhere, and you’ll be fine. Or just pick any other place nearby -...

Read moreI don't easily give negative reviews. And admittedly, my experience is into a large extent related to Niyati not being what I was looking for. That is not the hotel's fault of course. I should have done my research better. It was very hot in Kochi and I had some writing work to finish, for which the hotel does not have any (outdoor) sitting spaces available. Not the hotel's fault. I needed some kind of terrace or garden to spend a part of the day. Hence, I decided to leave earlier than planned. They were nice enough to only charge me for the time spent. ||For it's price, in Kochi, this is probably good value. The location is also excellent. ||The place looks like it was once well designed, but the maintenance is not so great and the pictures in my room were very mouldy for example. I had one of the larger rooms on the first floor. Nothing wrong with the room per sé. It's basic, but that's ok. There is an extreme lack of privacy as one 'wall' consists entirely of glass and looks directly into the other rooms (and vice versa). So during the day, you are either on display for everyone to see, or you need to keep all curtains closed. ||The bathroom did not feel particularly clean, but was also not particularly dirty. The sheets on the other hand had blood and other stains all over. I think they had been washed, but the stains remained. Also, there were clothes and underwear of another (previous) guest in my wardrobe ... doesn't really speak for the cleaning services either. ||I arrived relatively late in the evening. Somebody brought me to my room without any information being provided whatsoever. After asking, I learned that it's not possible to have breakfast at the hotel. Something that I should have checked before. ||In any case, this was not the right...
