Hotel Paramount — Hotel in Kolkata

During the month of Jun/July 2012 I have stayed two times in this hotel along with my daughter's admission purpose in Colleges at Kolkata. Though the rooms are small but it is Ok for staying in the Hotel during summer season with AC facility. ||Pros:||Situated in Park Street area, i.e Central Kolkata.||Cheapest amongs hotels with AC facility.||Hotel Management is good and helpfull.||More or less neat and clean.||Breakfast/lunch/dinner are available in adjacent area. ||||Cons:||Entry path of the hotel is very very bad.||Some of the Hotel boyes are very bad, without providing any service they demand tips. If not given they offended. If possible don't seek any service from them, do it yourself.||Home service is also available, but it will cost double of the actual price. Avoid home service as you are staying in a budget category hotel.||No internet...

Awful location. I wouldn't advise first-timers in Kolkata [or anyone for that matter] to take up any hotel on this street. The area is awful, almost shockingly so. Touts and agents all around trying to sell thei rhotel to you. Extremely shady place! We saw Paramount, and then tried looking around for other options-but all seemed equally bad/worse. ||||Hotel was strictly OK. Just a place to dump your bags and yourself- and go off to sleep [so that you can forget the surroundings you are in]. Bathroom had a lot of insects. They managed to get us dinner [limited options-one vegetable which we had to do with]. The staff were ok; except in the morning how they thugged us by pushing us into a taxi and quoting a really high price for an extremely short distance 'cos we were new to the city. ||||BAD EXPERIENCE!Complete...

The hotel claims to be located in the heart of the city which it is. The hotel is located besides a small lane on Mirza Ghalib Street. If you are lucky as I was you will get there easily. Otherwise it is very difficult to locate the hotel. The hotel claims to have room service, this turned out to be a myth. The room where I was made to stay had a running water motor pump inside which made all sorts of noises. The bare minimum service of providing towels and soaps in bathrooms and toilets was missing. I had to wait for at least 2 hours for a towel. This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Much better hotels are available in Kolkata for the same price or a little more. My Advice, don't stay in this place even if they pay you...
