Worst hotel experience of my life! Don’t trust the fake insta image… I don’t know where to begin:
The location: The location of the hotel is catastrophic. You can’t reach it. When you want to go out - be prepared for the steepest stairs and a ridiculously long walk. Since it was raining some of the roads where flooded and we had to go off-road. The roads leading to the hotel are not even slightly illuminated. So even getting there is an adventure. The location also forces all guests to eat in their restaurant. Which is good and has a nice view - to be fair. But it’s absolutely overpriced. It’s a scam. The room: The room is much smaller than in the pictures. I wouldn’t even call that a room - broom closet would be more accurate. We couldn’t even open our suitcases nor move inside the room. One always had to sit on the bed until in order for the other person to move around. Also the room was dirty! I felt like I was in a hostel. A bad one to be fair. The bathroom: The bathroom was outside the room which was super annoying it self. To exceed that there was no real window? So when we had to turn the light on the bathroom was full of mosquitoes. Also the shower head is above the toilet? It was a mess to say the least. Also the bathroom was still very dirty, rusty, dusty,… The location of the room: Our room was located next to the bar. It was loud and uncomfortable to access. But the worst part? People could watch us from the restaurant in our bathroom. So did our neighbors that had to walk past our bathroom to leave their room. So probz to all the people who saw me naked. If you hate privacy that’s your room 🙃 Also sleeping in front of the ocean sounds nice but if you want to sleep at night don’t. It was ear-piercing. The waves are crashing into the cliffs. They even stake the room. The price: So adding together all my points mentioned above let’s talk pricing. 121€ for one night? For what? To be honest I can’t find even one good aspect that would justify this pricing strategy. It is a textbook example ripoff. No breakfast, no room, no cleanliness, no rest, no privacy, no comfort. Nothing.
We left the hotel a few days earlier and paid extra to book another hotel since we couldn’t stay there one more night. I’m glad we did....
Read moreWe stayed here for two nights and that was more than enough. The views are incredibly stunning and the room itself was fine. My issue was the 190 steps that you need to take down to the property and then additional steps to get up into the actual property. There was zero mention of this on the website or booking page. I personally don’t mind the steps, but if you don’t have a basic level of fitness, or if you have any mobility issues this place is NOT for you. In fact, it could be dangerous.
More importantly, we had some pretty bad service from one person in particular. On our last night we went to have dinner on the premises and no one was around to serve us. We asked twice at reception if the restaurant was open and taking orders and the girl smiled at us and just said yes. But still no server came. It wasn’t until about 40 mins later that someone emerged to take our order. (If we didn’t have to walk up 190 stairs and then go down the long alley to get off the property, we would have gone into town for dinner).
Lastly, we almost missed our 8:30am flight to Lombok because the girl at reception (same girl who told us the restaurant was open) did not arrange a taxi like she said she would. I informed her twice that we had an early morning flight and needed a taxi to pick us up at the top of the stairs at 6:30m sharp. She said she would arrange it but there was no taxi in the morning. At 6:50am after waiting 20 minutes I sprinted back down the stairs to ask at reception again where our taxi was… the person there said he would call one. At this point I was in a panic so I ran back up the stairs and we ended up walking along the narrow alley that leads to the main road where I flagged down a car who took us to the airport. We arrived 5 mins before boarding. I’m pretty sure if I had waited for the alleged taxi, we would have missed our flight.
Note that it was this one particular girl that gave terrible service. The other staff were just fine.
So two things for Le Cliff : be transparent on your website about the steps, and TRAIN ALL STAFF in customer service and how to arrange for transport for...
Read moreI think people writing such negative reviews forget that this is still a 3 star hotel. 3 star generally means it’s missing quite a few amenities. Such things that are listed when you book the reservation. So you can’t go in thinking you’re getting a 5 star resort experience even though it is more on the expensive side. (You’re paying for the view)
There is a trek to get to the location like 10 sets of steep stairs, however we anticipated that because of other reviews. But it was to the point after a couple trips I didn’t want to go anywhere else until we were leaving which is fine haha, the restaurants available had good food and AMAZING views of the ocean and the beach out front is stunning. If you’re a surfer this is a paradise and bonus would be you already made the trek down those stairs.
The staff were all very friendly, there was some miscommunication with front desk in regard to transportation to our next location but the amazing man who carried our luggage up the stairs and the driver got it sorted for us. Padang Padang beach is a couple minute walk away but the beach out front is just as nice and free.
The room is pretty small and the walls are pretty thin you can hear other guests pretty easily or monkeys running about and the ac isn’t the strongest but the morning view makes for that. We had monkey visitors on our balcony which was a super cool experience. However if you get a open air bathroom, nothing by the sink is safe, we had a monkey steal our toothbrushes, we are assuming this because the toothpaste tube is all chewed up and was left for evidence haha. Since the bathroom is open air, there are some bugs. The decor inside and out of the villa was super cute and picturesque.
Some untimely negatives would be there was some noisy construction happening in the room below, and the power went out. And then obviously the miscommunication regarding booking transportation. It wouldn’t be my first choice to come back, (mostly because of the trek) but I’m still happy with...
