I’m a new Anantara Vacation Club (AVC) member. I unfortunately fell prey to their high-pressure sales tactics in Phuket last year. Buyer's remorse has plagued me since signing up, and my recent stay at AVC Legian, Bali, only exacerbated these feelings.
If you're seeking a luxury resort experience, you will be very disappointed. This property barely scrapes by as a three-star accommodation. The facilities are run-down. In our two-bedroom suite, the toilets emitted a constant, foul odor at certain times of day, despite our attempts to freshen them. Upon arrival, we discovered the master bedroom cabinet doors were off their rollers. Furthermore, the property's location is not as kid/family-friendly as advertised. Primarily, back-packers and tons of bars around. I say so because I have lived in multiple other places in Bali like Nusa Dua, Seminyak, Jimbaran, Uluwaatu that I would recommend staying for family with young kids.
The food quality at The Coffee Club is, frankly, questionable. My wife, one of my sons, and I became ill after breakfast on our first day. We initially attributed it to food consumed elsewhere. However, upon returning to The Coffee Club for breakfast on our check-out day, my wife and I experienced the same nausea just hours later, confirming our suspicions.
Our return flight was at 11 pm, so I requested a slight check-out flexibility the day prior, given that I was traveling with two young children. This request was denied. Consequently, I booked a Marriott property 10-15 minutes from the airport to allow us 8-9 hours of rest before our flight. On check-out day, I requested that our pre-booked airport transfer take us to the new hotel instead of the airport. This seemingly simple request triggered a cascade of exception handling and, unfortunately, abysmal communication, revealing the property's, the AVC program's, and the hotel's shockingly poor management and service standards. They did, eventually, transport us to the hotel. Left a poor experience though.
The sole redeeming quality of this property was the friendliness of the staff – at reception, the restaurant, security guards, room service staff and especially at the Kids Club. Loved all of them. Putra at the Kids Club was exceptional, and my children adored him.
Despite this, I would never return to this property, nor would I recommend it to anyone. I strongly discourage anyone reading this from signing up for an Anantara Vacation Club membership. Save your money for more...
Read moreI had an enjoyable 4D 3N stay at Anantara Vacation Club Legian Bali. Double Six Beach is conveniently located within walking distance and Legian boasts a vibrant street vendor scene and an array of food options, making it an ideal destination for newcomers to Bali. The hotel is suitable for couples and families alike.
Communication with the hotel was good and the staff greeted me warmly at the airport with a playcard bearing my name. Check-in was quick and I was promptly led to my room. The two-bedroom apartment was surprisingly clean and well-decorated, considering the building’s slightly dated design. As the saying goes, don’t judge a book by its cover. They even provided bottles of 1.5L mineral water, which was a thoughtful touch. The housekeeping team did an excellent job of keeping the place clean throughout my stay. The air conditioning was cold, and the kitchenette was well-stocked with utensils. There was even a toaster, a rice cooker and a microwave oven! Mosquito spray, insect repellent and umbrellas were provided in each room. Each room also had a JBL bluetooth cum alarm clock speaker. No washing machine, though. However, I must mention that the water pressure in the shower could have been stronger. Since I was a part of a marketing campaign, I had to attend a 90-120 minute presentation that, on the second day, stretched to a 2.5-hour session. The session was non-intrusive and didn’t require any commitments. I was even compensated with some food and spa vouchers for my time.
I thoroughly enjoyed dining at The Coffee Club. You could also enjoy the marvellous Bali sunset at the Sunset Bar. The food was delicious, especially the chicken wings, nuggets and watermelon juice. They also offered the option to have food delivered to your room. However, during checkout, I discovered that the discount applied by The Coffee Club to my food bills wouldn’t be valid if I used the vouchers. This was disappointing because I hadn’t been informed about this restriction during the voucher issuance process or by the staff at The Coffee Club. Additionally, the shisha at The Coffee Club fell short of my expectations. That said, I noticed that all the staff at the hotel and restaurant were always welcoming and had a smile on...

We had a fantastic vacation here, and I especially want to express my deepest appreciation for Mr. Budi — he truly has the best service mind I’ve ever experienced.
One evening, I realized I had forgotten to collect a deposit item from the club. Unfortunately, the phone line was constantly busy, and we couldn’t reach them. Mr. Budi kindly stepped in and helped us contact the team directly.
When we arranged for a Gojek driver to pick it up, things got more complicated. The driver was frustrated because he had to walk through the property, and the items had already been moved to Lost & Found. Mr. Budi not only helped coordinate with the driver but also politely asked him to help retrieve the items. We wanted to tip the driver to show our appreciation, but the Gojek app didn’t have a tip option, and we had no IDR cash at 11 PM. Local exchange shops were already closed. The driver even tried to take my husband to another exchange location, but it was closed too.
Incredibly, Mr. Budi used his own money to tip the driver on our behalf. He went above and beyond, and we’re so thankful for his kindness. We wish him all the best — he truly made our stay unforgettable.
The rest of our experience at Anantara was equally great. The service throughout the resort was excellent. The staffs at The Coffee Club restaurant were friendly and helpful — more like local friends giving us great tips on places not to miss, rather than just serving food.
I also took my first surfing lesson right on the beach in front of the hotel — only about 250k IDR for an hour, and I even managed to stand on the board!
We genuinely enjoyed our vacation here and hope to come back again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great hospitality, good food, and beautiful...
