The Bungalow Kitchen — Restaurant in Kuta

I usually combine my breakfast and lunch, so I ordered the Big Breakfast, Eggs Hollandaise, and the Meslin Dates for dessert. Unfortunately, my experience here was disappointing. What made me uncomfortable was not just the food but the way I felt treated by the staff. After I placed my order, it seemed like the servers were mocking me—they kept repeating my order among themselves while laughing and chatting close by. I tried to brush it off, but it affected my appetite and overall mood. As for the food, I personally found it quite bland. The only items with noticeable taste were the hash browns and sausage. The hollandaise sauce had an overly strong vinaigrette flavor, and I couldn’t finish my dessert, managing only a few bites. I don’t usually comment on service behavior unless it really impacts the experience, but in this case, I felt it crossed the line. Good service can sometimes make up for food that isn’t great, but here I was let down on both sides. This review is intended as constructive feedback. I hope the management can improve both the flavor of their dishes and, more importantly, ensure that all guests are treated with respect. I came there for a lunch and ordered a smoothie bowl and a cup of hot cappuccino. Coffee arrived first and it was good. But then I tried the smoothie bowl I was very disappointed. First of something was wrong with the taste of yogurt in it. Second - the granola was like a gravel stiff and tasteless. And fruits were kinda unfresh. The hole thing was awful, I could not eat more then one spoon. And they charged me for this bowl despite I didn't eat it. Also you should know that the kitchen is open and share a space with a place you gonna eat. So it is loud. I mean very noisy. When I was there a lady in the kitchen start to cook something with a mixer or a blender, and she didn't turn this thing off for several minutes! The sound was so annoying that I put on my headphones just to feel a bit better while I was drinking my coffee. You can hear this noise on a video I made, just seconds before she turned it off. Other ladies were kinda frowning and unfriendly. Very unpleasant experience, maybe the worst in Bali so far. Two stars...

Beautiful food, we shared garlic fried rice with chicken and a peanut butter smoothy bowl with an English muffin on the side (note: this was more just a large “English muffin” shaped roll as opposed to a real English muffin which we all know would be probably hard to fin in Bali 🤣) which was lightly toasted and served with butter which we topped with the rice, which was so good!! Def the best rice dish I’ve had here in Bali, and possibly the best I’ve had….ever. It was really fragrant and I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what they used in the way of spices / aromatics but it was amazing and really different to any other fried rice I’ve tasted. The smoothy bowl was really good too. Ice coffee was strong and surprisingly not sweet! This place is great, with lovely staff and they have chess, jenga and connect 4 to keep you entertained...
