The Grand Mercure Seminyak. It is hard to see how our experience on our return to the Grand Mercure Seminyak could be improved upon following our first visit in 2024. However the wonderful staff at this lovely hotel have once again offered their genuine Balinese welcome and assistance from the moment we arrived for a four day stay.
In June 2024 we wrote of our memorable stay at this lovely hotel and to return when we could. Ten months later we arrived and it was though we had not been away as we felt so completely at home.
At reception, Priscilla had us quickly settled with our bags collected by the kindly Annga who also made sure we had a cool drink before taking us to our beautifully appointed and maintained suite. Thanks must also go to the Duty Manager, Riri, who came out to greet us and welcome us as return visitors. It was a lovely gesture.
We had opted for a four night suite upgrade through our ACCOR membership and were so happy that we had, as the room was spacious, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom and dressing rooms, excellent. As a corner room at the front of the hotel we also had an outlook towards the beach just 100 metres away, and serviced beautifully by the friendly Angga W.
As we have mentioned in previous reviews, it is the wonderful staff who made our time here so memorable on our last visit and once again the Mercure shone for our return visit in this area.
Everyone has been kind, engaging, friendly and helpful. There are just too many to list them all but we hope they know they were appreciated. We were delighted that some of the beautiful staff in the dining room remembered us from our previous visit and warmly welcomed us back. It was such a treat to see Deva, Windah and Kusuma again.
Thank you also to Sari in the Spa for two wonderful massages. She was offering free five minute massages beside the pool on Sunday, and has the magic touch which lead me to make an appointment, and then repeat. I would highly recommend a booking with her.
During our four day stay we were met by Ya’kob, the General Manager, and Rio, the Executive Manager who shared details of the continual progress that is being made at the Mercure through implementing new experiences for guests, including stretching, yoga and archery sessions in the mornings and afternoons by the pool and their hopes of developing additional presentations focusing on the Balinese culture.
They and their colleagues are such a proactive management team, who are keen for feedback and clearly want to place the Grand Mercure Seminyak on the top of the list for those of us traveling to Bali and looking for a great experience.
Finally to Nadya and the proactive experience team and Pancani who we met on our last visit and farewelled at reception as we prepared to leave. Thank you! You are all wonderful. We will see you next year all being well.
Our review also from 2024…. The Mercure is a recently opened and looks modern, fresh and vibrant from the moment you enter the impressive lobby.
We were greeted by the wonderful Pancani at reception. We had arrived early so had not expected our room to be ready, but Pancani suggested we might relax in the restaurant situated by the pool as she worked towards having our room ready as soon as possible.
The Batur Restaurant and pool area is very pleasant and a great place to enjoy Balinese hospitality. It opens onto the pool and has the most amazing staff, from Larni to Kusuma, Deva and Febby who all took care of us, making us feel welcome.
Our room, on the third floor overlooking the pool, was wonderful. The room spacious and with excellent facilities and brilliant air conditioning. Did I mention the comfortable bed?
Thank you to Sri for her welcoming smile and to Ady, Kadek and Ardi for their kindness and attention to us at breakfast each morning of our stay. To Windha, Camya, Wayan, Kadek and every other wonderful member of the Mercure staff who took such fabulous care of us and to those whose names we did not...
Read moreThe first impression of arriving at this hotel was bad. Arriving 5 minutes at the drop-off, there was no staff at all to help unload the luggage. Many staff were walking around, but maybe not part of it, pretending not to see. Finally self-service pushing the trolley yourself, lifting the luggage yourself. I didn't expect that a 5-star hotel would still get an experience like this. I used a suite night to upgrade my room to a junior suite, it turned out I could still upgrade to an executive suite, late check-out until 16.00 and a welcome drink. The lobby was a bit hot||Finally entered the room, it was cool and comfortable. The room was spacious, there was a living room with a sofa, table, work desk and comfortable work chair with a TV, the room was spacious with carvings behind the mattress which added a luxurious impression with a combination of textured paint. The mattress and pillows were clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the choice of flooring material using wooden parquet looks ugly and has many scratches even though the hotel is relatively new. In the bedroom there is a TV and a fan. Even during the day the room is still cool. Great. There is a balcony with a partial view of the beach and the road is quite good. But the balcony from the living room has a really bad view of the project. Wanting to dry clothes is also afraid of getting dust from the project. The TV wifi is smooth, 6 bottles of mineral water are provided, if in the Accor group they already provide mineral water so don't try to ask for a refill because usually they charge if you ask for more. Tea uses Dilmah, coffee uses coffee capsules. Welcome amenities are given chocolate bread, fruit, and a bowl of bread. ||Entering the door you can go straight to the walk-in closet containing a cupboard and luggage rack that goes directly to the bathroom. The bathroom has a bathtub, 2 washbasins, shower and closet. The amenities are very complete. The shampoo soap is no brand, but okay standard. Complete towels, 2 body towels, 2 hand towels and 2 face towels. ||The facilities include a large swimming pool, a children's pool, a water feature that was not turned on, an outdoor playground, a kids club, a gym. Complete for a 5 star. The welcome drink selection was good, there was also a whole coconut. There is no lounge.||The breakfast menu has many variations, but honestly in my opinion, The taste can be improved.|Menu:|1. Banana kolak, stir-fried tempeh, braised egg, shredded chicken, lime leaf rice, crackers|2. Fish curry, naan bread, long beans masala, salad, bread, sausage, omelette, tomato, bacon|3.
