Pavilion Surf Club Legian Beach — Restaurant in Kuta

I am pretending to give this horrible venue a great review in the hope that people looking to book here expecting a wonderful culinary experience, DO NOT BOOK HERE, as it definitely is not that.

I felt so bad for my partner as he booked the Pavilion surf Club for my birthday, however it was is the worst place my partner and I have ever had a meal in our entire lives, actually you can’t even call it a meal. If we had known, we would have saved ourselves a pricy tasteless meal. Even if we had a meal at the worst Warung or Bali’s street food, it would not have been as unsavory and bland.

The service was appalling, we booked one of the upstairs front tables, near railings to watch the sunset. When we arrived the staff (3 of them together, we didn’t realise it took 3 girls to show us to our table), they shoved us in the corner & I mentioned I had emailed our seating request along with the booking. It took over half hour to find something suitable, they were not accommodating and all 3 including the manager lied to us. There was a free high table which we asked to sit at, they said it was reserved (no reserve sign on it) and shortly after we were seated another couple arrived and they were offered a choice of tables (which we were not), the couple chose the high table, we were told was reserved. They placed us on a long table near the railing and repeatedly told us we would be sharing with a large group of people; we were left with little choice. I am sure they were trying to derail us from sitting at the long table but guess what!!! only another couple sat at our table, again lied.

We ordered a large seafood platter which included cray/lobster. I have travelled the world, so am well-travelled and being from a European background, I have had many a sublime seafood meals, however never in my life have I tasted such rubbery & watery rubbish (clearly defrosted in the microwave prior to cooking), not to mention some of the seafood was raw, it was disgusting and that is an extreme understatement.

How this venue has high ratings is beyond my comprehension, it really is completely unbelievable. I can only put it down to the diners reviews are from people who have little expectations and have never truly tasted beautiful seafood. It was utter rubbish, only the fries were edible. It was the worst experience we have ever had and an absolutely and completely waste of money.

If you truly have high expectations STAY AWAY...

Booked a table for 2 at 6pm on a Saturday night. Wanted to enjoy the seafood tower for one as advertised on the menu plus we were told it would be available if we booked the tower, plus we ordered one other meal. The tower was suddenly unavailable but we were told we could have a platter for one instead.... a scallop, 2 oysters, 3 prawns a couple of calamari and a king prawn sized half crayfish. The other meal, a fish and chips was good. Disappointment number 2 came with the TV set up. There were 9 TV sets on, with 7 showing an incredibly one sided NRL mismatch between the Broncos and a scoreless G C Titans and 2 sets showing a Super Rugby match. This demographic was not interested in Union as it showed with literally no one watching that game. I asked one of the managers if ONE of the sets could be tuned in to the AFL match. His reply was that they would tear the place down. "They need to be able to watch the game from all angles" he said. A bit later I asked the other Aussie manager about the possibility of one of the sets being changed to AFL. "Oh no, the owner is from Port Macquarie and he likes NRL, but you can (lose your table) go upstairs to watch AFL up there" Customer not a priority if the boss likes NRL. Good business? The third disappointment came when after having one round of 2 for one cocktails, we were asked if we would like another. We replied with a no thanks. We will have 2 small Bintangs. A second lot of 2 for 1 cocktails arrived. We said we didn't order those, please send them back. Oh no, you can have them and we will not charge you. The bill sure enough had the 2 extra margaritas on the plus tax. An extra $18 AUD. The fish and chip meal was the one bright light. We had 12 evening meals out in Bali and this one didn't...

According to the previous comments of how good the sea food tower is, we booked two days earlier for the dinner which turned to nightmare for us !!! In order to get the the booking done, the credit card info has to be given in case you are not showing up, which i understand that the season food is costing and the restaurant need to by daily. After the booking it is said there is email will be sent for confirmation, one day later I have received nothing from them so I have to run to the restaurant personally again to make sure everything is correct. We showed up in time and order the wine and drinks waiting for the sea food tower. It looks all quite right when it delivered, but after few bites, except lobster we found out the crab, prawns, oysters and fish are all not fresh at all, specially the crab and oyster are almost dried out, there are no meat, there are only sauce and shell !!! We complained to the waiter and manager that the whole thing is not eatable at all! The manager insisted they bought the food in the market daily, and offered us 10% discount and disappeared. We finished our drink and left the food there. We were thinking just one of our beautiful night in Bali is ruined by it, we should not pay too much attention to it, guess what, my wife get the “Bali Belly” next day, she had serious dairy and fever after, therefore the rest of our holiday are also ruined by this “daily bought ” sea food...
