Fantastic service from the staff who went above and beyond to make our family stay easier, including coordinating complementary transport to other hotels which some other family members were staying at as plataran was fully booked out, and coordinating baby car seat with our drivers at reception area. Also had a wonderful 90min massage at the Padme spa upstairs which was wonderful and much nicer than the others we had on the street massage places - they really tailor the experience to your liking including offering different scented oils for you to pick from . The view restaurant was amazing (as the name suggests, it has an anmazing view) and loads of great food and amazing fresh fruit platters each day. The staff remembered our coffee orders on day 1 and always brought us our coffees to our table the following days without having to order. Shout out to Metri for exceptional service and going above and beyond . The musician playing the traditional instruments was also very friendly and allowed my daughter to play and try and follow along. Conference faculties were exceptional, the attention to detail on the Balinese architecture was an absolute pleasure to be around, along with great tea/coffee facilities and catering during the meetings. I really liked the large coi ponds, however personally I was not a fan of the farm animals (ie sheep) in tiny pens / petting zoo area, but it was good to see the staff took them out during some of the day to eat grass on the lawns at least. The rice paddies were also waiting to be re planted after they had been harvested so the big muddy fields did look a bit off putting and was smelly, and it would look 1000x better once they are replanted out, but the staff did say they grow and harvest the rice all year long so it’s just luck of the draw really if it’s planted out or not. But the photos when it was growing makes it look really amazing. Parts of the pathway / roads were not exactly disabled friendly either and quite steep, but the staff are very friendly and provided a transport shuttle for us which was very helpful when we had our luggage and pram etc. it’s worth noting Bali has generally quite poor footpaths and roads so actually Plataran is way ahead of the rest of Bali in that regard, but still difficult at times on some paths (such as the eco pathway through the rice fields and the steep pathway behind the restaurant. The room was very comfy bed and amazing view over the resort property, pool and temples. Our room has a view over the yoga studio and they were doing some very interesting poses! Overall a fantastic stay, family friendly and somewhere we will definitely be coming back to when next in the area. Again thanks specifically to Metri in the view restaurant for...
Read moreWe stayed at Plataran in Ubud for six nights and wanted to write a review that hopefully others find helpful:
Pros — -Beautiful and really peaceful property in the heart of Ubud. The property is very quiet in contrast to the chaos of Ubud while still being walkable to many of the things we wanted to do (1 minute walk to Suka + Yoga Barn) -The staff are very friendly and hospitable -We were traveling with our 2 year old son and the kids club was great for him to play at indoors to escape the heat
Cons — -The free buffet had plenty of food, however we weren’t very impressed with it (for being a 5 star hotel). We ended up just getting fruit from the buffet, and would go to Suka for breakfast. -The bed was super comfortable, but the pillows were not. -Our air conditioner wasn’t working properly the first night of our stay and we barely slept. We asked for the night to be complimentary because of the inconvenience but they were unwillingly to do that and gave us ‘free massages’ instead. Not what we were looking for and what felt equitable considering the circumstances but we let it go. -My wife booked the free massage but asked if she could do a facial instead. She had thought that she just had to pay the additional charge for the price difference of the facial vs massage. Turns out there was a miscommunication (language barrier) and we had to pay the full price of the facial. We attempted to have a conversation with the hotel manager (Helena) about the miscommunication and find a mutually agreeable conclusion but she immediately became agitated, condescending, and dismissive of our concerns. She was unwilling to accept any responsibility for the language barrier and miscommunication. Her aggression and lack of acknowledgment of our concerns was antithetical to Balinese hospitality. Plataran didn’t do anything to attempt to rectify the situation and make it right after that exchange.
Overall we had a great experience + enjoyed our stay at Plataran. However, our interaction with Helena was unacceptable + hope that future guests are not treated the way...
Read moreIt was perfect! We stayed here for our honeymoon in the honeymoon suite/villa with the plunge pool.
I don’t usually write reviews but I’m always reading them for any hotels I’m wanting to book so if you’re planning on booking this hotel but unsure as I was; book it.
The hotel is surrounded by plenty of cafes/spas/restaurants & salons so there’s plenty to do day/night and if you’re not planning on leaving the hotel then the pool, activities and in-house Spa will keep you busy & relaxed. FYI, the spa treatments at the hotel were fantastic!
I’d say this is the perfect hotel for couples it’s literally a honeymoon destination.
The breakfast was great offering plenty of continental and local cuisines whatever you fancy. The fruits and juices were as fresh as you could get. Lovely scenery looking over the fields of the hotel.
The room was comfortable & very clean. You’ll definitely get a good nights sleep on the comfy bed. Mosquito nets are also provided and the room service was second to none. Quick and efficient from answering the phone to accommodating whatever you needed. Drinks were provided along with other amenities.
The bathroom was spacious, clean, free from any dirt and dust. The window was a nice touch.
The staff were friendly, accommodating and honestly helped with anything we needed. I can safely say the locals are the nicest people I’ve ever come across, they were really down to earth and the staff were just amazing from reception, to the managers, the chefs, waiters & cleaners.
You’ll get a buggy service to your room, it’s nice after a long travel!
The pad fields amongst the scenery of the hotel was lush.
I’m running out of superlatives to describe my stay here and I’ve tried to think of everything during our stay but I can honestly say this hotel is worth every penny.
A calm, relaxing and vibrant resort; the...
