Read moreThis is most certainly one of the worst hotels in Ubud, and Bali, and for sure one of the worst hotels I’ve ever experienced in 45 countries and several hundred hotels across type (boutique, chain, guest house and everything in between). ||And I’m taking the painstaking process of detailing how bad my experience was with this hotel because they were not only horrible at first glance, but they doubled down on this in the form of (also) one of the worst managers I’ve experienced - Dina.||Specifically, I am doing a bit of hotel hopping around Bali currently (second time visiting) as I move between towns. I have eclectic taste and am certainly one for the “hidden gem”, love to support local and small business etc. The reviews and photos here appeared outstanding but simply don’t do justice to just how worn/ torn and dated this place is - under the auspices of being “quaint” or even “rustic”. ||Firstly, the hotel is set 100 feet (or 30 meters) from the road along a poorly done road with several beat up (? Unoccupied buildings) down said path/ mini alley/ side road. This is why, I presume, the claims of being “quiet”. Meanwhile, as a solo female traveler (or really any traveler potentially) walking down this really long dimly lit, uneven ground in late evenings, was less than appealing.||Secondly, my room was BEYOND dated, ugly (and I can deal with that part fine, for a night) but had frank stains - multiple, see photos - all along the headboard. I called the front desk alarmed at the state of the headboard and concerned about the clear misrepresentation of the room. They attempted to send two gentlemen who apologized as they were unable to clean/ wipe off the several stains on the headboard (it needs a deep cleaning at least). They then sent one of the front desk staff who apologized and said she could do nothing about offering me a different room as the hotel was full. But she confirmed that “this” was the oldest room they have ie the grand deluxe room - meanwhile these were the only rooms left online when I had booked. Therefore, I called to take it up with my booking agent as the room is distinctly different from all representations online and frankly the mysterious stains on the bed were less than settling.||Thirdly, and this is a minor thing, but still worth stating, the front desk is at least 20 feet (or 6 meters) away from where you get dropped off at by a vehicle or say from your airport/ hotel transfer, so don’t expect them to realize you’re there upon arrival. In fact, my driver and I had to both get out of the car to try and get someone’s attention — and when it seemed no one was still coming (some confusion ensued…) and my driver (/ guide) who is very kind/ but also needed to get going started trying to unload my bags and bring them inside the actual gate himself.||Finally, manager Dina first of all was not on sight when any of this happened, nor was there anyone in lieu of her/ seemingly able to address the issue of the poorly kempt room. I called directly to the booking agent to highlight the issues with the room and its misrepresentation, they called the front desk and were told that the manager would be on site in 40 mins. This was at 4pm on a Monday… when Dina finally showed up, she mentioned there were other rooms but they couldn’t switch me because that’s what I had booked; I actually was willing to pay for a different room. But she clearly didn’t see anything wrong with the room as is / was doubling down. ||Tried and true, so much of a hotel really comes down to the management. And it really is lacking here. There are SO many wonderful residences in Ubud (I moved right next door to RP, and it’s a world of difference)....
We recently stayed at a charming, traditionally designed hotel that truly captures the essence of Bali. The property is beautifully laid out, with four Balinese-style houses set within stunning grounds. The highlight for us was the infinity pool—it's absolutely breathtaking, and the perfect place to relax and take in the serene surroundings.
Our room was garden-facing, offering a peaceful view of the palm trees and well-kept lawn. It was spacious, with a good-sized balcony that we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff deserve a special mention—they were incredibly charming and always eager to help, making our stay even more pleasant.
The location of the hotel is another big plus. It’s ideally situated in the centre of Ubud, with views overlooking picturesque rice fields, which really added to the tranquil atmosphere.
However, there are a few areas that could use some improvement. The beds in our room were very hard, which might not be to everyone’s liking. The bathroom, while functional, felt dated, and the shower offered more of a drizzle than a proper wash. Breakfast was another letdown, with minimal choice and very basic options. We ended up skipping it and heading to a local café instead.
It’s worth noting that the hotel is currently undergoing renovations, so I’m optimistic that some of these issues, particularly the bathroom, will be addressed in the near future. In the meantime, I’d recommend the hotel considers improving its breakfast offering to better match the beautiful setting and overall experience.
All in all, I’d rate this hotel as a good three-star option. With some updates, it has the potential to be even better. If you're looking for a peaceful, traditionally styled retreat with lovely grounds and friendly staff, this place is definitely worth...
Read moreWe always love Ubud. Ubud has its own magic that makes us truly feel comfortable here. However, we found one resort that adds to our reasons to always go to Ubud when we vacation in Bali. The resort is The Artini Dijiwa Ubud. Truly, it is a very beautiful resort for us. Even though it is located in the busiest area of Ubud, we truly found extraordinary tranquility and comfort at this resort. We booked a Deluxe Suite Room. We really didn't expect the room to be so spacious with a touch of traditional Bali, yet wrapped in a very modern design. The view we got from our room's balcony was also very pleasing to the eye, typical of Ubud with its natural landscape. The amenities were very complete, even including a very large bathtub that we used for soaking in warm water. Truly a very enjoyable experience and one that we will never forget. The service was also very good, and the check-in process was very smooth. We were also given a welcome drink while enjoying the view of the paddy fields and infinity pool at their pool bar. It truly relieved all our fatigue from the hustle and bustle of Jakarta, the city where we work every day. In the morning, we were provided with picnic-style breakfast facilities. This is truly the first time experiencing a picnic-style breakfast, and it was really exciting for us. The food was also very delicious, we were very satisfied with everything. We really felt recharged with everything this resort has to offer. We will definitely return to this resort when we vacation in Bali again, especially when we are in the Ubud area. We highly recommend this...
