Crudo rooms is an interesting concept - rooms that are clean, bright and although in an old building decorated in a very contemporary way. It's in a great location right by the train and bus station so a perfect base for seeing Cagliari and the area around it. All the old area of Cagliari is in walking distance, there are a plethora of good restaurants nearby and buses go to Poetto Beach and the airport from just across the street.||It's not a conventional hotel though. Not only is it quirky, with rooms named after plants, decorated in vivid colours and with soft knitted key fobs (they fit nicely in your pocket), the whole thing is run on trust. You help yourself to breakfast from your own fridge in the reception room, make your own coffee and eat on the balcony of your room. A maid comes in later to clean and remove your breakfast tray. There are virtually no staff. We were greeted nicely by Giorgio who explained how it all worked and from then on we came and went as we pleased. The result is a very relaxed environment and excellent value for money.||We heard no street noise at all even though we were near a busy area, but we were there mid week out if season and our room opened onto the inner courtyard so we can't vouch for the outer rooms. There were toiletries, a hair dryer, good free wifi signal and we even had a complimentary bottle Chianti!||The rooms are up two (tall) flights of stairs but once you have checked in and have a key there is an old and quirky lift.||All in all we love the concept. It's a bit 'full of love' for us reserved English, but very pleasant nonetheless so don't let that put that you off. If you want a reasonably priced stay and don't need the formalities of a hotel environment this is perfect. Just don't expect luxuries or...
Read moreHi, we stayed for 5 days in March at this place, though it was very near the station it was a bit tricky to find. Anyway, the guy who runs, though helpful, repeats the same thing to everyone which got a bit annoying after hearing it a few times.||Rooms were nicely decorated but had no hooks whatsoever, not even in the bathroom where you need to hang towel! After first day no toiletries were provided for us apart from handwash!||Now, breakfast was complete bonkers, firstly there is no running water in the so called kitchen cum breakfast cum lobby place! He provides bottled water to heat up in the microwave for tea! Then you are given shelves on indiviual fridge for your stuff which he leaves every morning! Regardless of what you might want or not. And all dry stuff( biscuits and things:( ANDoh my God, everybody struggled with his coffee machine....one middle Guy with me in the kitchen soilled it all over and there is nobody in sight most of the time....what a pallava!||Was glad to be out of there to be really honest....and the city Cagliari was also sooo disappointing....hardly anything to see...||I think i have ranted enough but seriously, i think this was my worst...
Read moreThis is not a hotel but more like a guesthouse. It is in 2 units on 2nd floor of a residential building. There is no front desk or real reception. You do need to notify and communicate with the owners your arrival time so they can be there waiting for you. Sometimes that you may arrive but nobody is there to check you in, if there is some miscommunication.||||Overall, staying in this guesthouse is a very nice experience.||||It is right next to the Cagliari Train Station and on Via Roma, where there are many cafes, stores, and restaurants. It is also a short walk to the historic old town on the hill. To the ferry terminal (going to Italian mainland), it is also less than 10 minutes' walk away. Location is quite convenient.||||The owners, a Chinese couple, are very friendly. The rooms are clean and quiet (They mostly face the courtyard, not the street). There are a lot of food and drinks available for the breakfast. They also have a coffee machine that you can make coffee 24 hours.||Generally, the price is also relatively low, so it is a good bargain when you visit Cagliari.||||Marlin's Room...
