Where to begin?!
First, let’s talk customer service. 5/5
We emailed back and forth with Giuseppe over the course of weeks and he arranged all of our lunch and dinner reservations. Everything he recommended (see my reviews) we’re phenomenal. A+! When we got to the hotel, it was like we saw a family member.
The entire staff - Nelly, Francisco, and many others were wonderful during our staff. We were upgraded to a Garden Suite which stayed cool and allowed us privacy without too much Sun coverage. The rooms and hotel were renovated within the past year and they did a phenomenal job. Especially the bathrooms! Breakfast was included in our rate and many items were made fresh to order.
Secondly, location. 5/5! The hotel is tucked nicely away from all the foot traffic in Capri, but hidden so nicely that you’re steps from the center squares. Our longest walk to dinner was 20 minutes, with the majority being 5-7 minutes. Unlike Positano, Capri has ramps rather than stairs everywhere so it made navigating fairly easy in and around Capri (Anacapri is 15 mins. by bus.) We also recommend taking the funicolare from the main port up to Capri for €2.20/person/trip. Be aware that you’ll need to walk your bags roughly 5 minutes to the hotel from downtown Capri regardless of your transport up from the main port (private car, taxi, bus, or train car.) However, upon checkout, they will cart your bags to the transport pick up under the clock which saves you a little bit of energy and sweat.
Finally, pricing! 5/5 Many places in Capri are expensive to stay in and serve over priced drinks. Frankly, we’re so glad we stayed here. The rates were super reasonable, had the cheapest drinks, and was a nice way to ease into our honeymoon. We like this way more than Positano where everything costs a lot more. Sure you can spend a lot on the island with all the designer shops, but you can also go Capri at a much more affordable rate in a fabulous location.
I share this review hesitantly because I want this hotel to get the traction they deserve and with a few minor tweaks (softer towels and sheets, more blankets, and a late night bar option with live music) it can be taken to another level. However, I also want this hotel to remain a well kept secret so we can continue to return. We’re super grateful to the entire team at La Residenza and we can...
Read moreWe had the most wonderful stay at La Residenza in Capri. We first visited last year for our honeymoon and loved it so much that we returned this year for our anniversary. From the moment we arrived, the experience was flawless. The front reception, housekeeping, gardeners, and luggage staff all contributed to keeping the hotel immaculately maintained. The gardens and plants were beautiful, the pool area was always pristine, and everything felt carefully looked after.||A very special mention goes to Enzo, the F&B Manager, Maria Rosaria, the rest of the food & beverage team, as well as the chef and food preparation team. Breakfast was always fantastic, and nothing was ever too much trouble. They worked tirelessly, and although we never met the chef, the quality and presentation of the food spoke volumes. Around the pool, the team made our days even more enjoyable, always serving drinks with a smile and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. They also surprised my husband with a lovely birthday cake at breakfast, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the celebration extra special.||Housekeeping was equally exceptional. Maria, Anasta, and the others whose names we didn’t catch were professional, courteous, and consistently cheerful. Their attention to detail ensured our room was always spotless and inviting.||What really stood out was the way every staff member treated one another with kindness and respect, regardless of hierarchy, a rare and lovely thing to witness. Every detail made our stay unforgettable. ||La Residenza is truly a place where every staff member goes above and beyond. The service, warmth, and care made both our honeymoon and anniversary unforgettable. We would not hesitate to return again and highly recommend it to anyone...
Read moreThis hotel is absolutely overrated and overpriced. Upon arrival we discovered numerous stains on our duvet so we had to contact the staff to have them change the duvet. Shortly after, we noticed a revolting smell that smelled like poop, and it’s impossible to get rid of the smell because it keeps coming back. You might think the smell came from the bathroom, but ironically the bathroom smells 10 times better than the room. There was obviously something wrong about the hotel’s sewage pipeline system, but the hotel employees were acting clueless about it and denying the existence of such an awful smell. After experiencing 2 nights of this horrendous smell as we sleep, we were informed by the staff that our room wasn’t the only room that was encountering this problem (which is even more concerning). Although the staff informed us that the hotel is fully booked and couldn’t switch us to another room, the staff failed to offer any form of alternative resolutions or compensation regarding the ongoing fecal smell. As a result, we paid more than 2,000 euros to sleep in this smelling room for 4 whole nights. My nose has been terribly violated by the nauseating smell of the room.
In addition to the room’s unsolvable poopy smell situation, the room’s walls have weak noise insulation so do expect that you will be waken up a couple times every night by random noises. Also, the room rains dusts constantly so it gets super dusty very quickly to the point that we had to cover our items with things to avoid our items from getting dirty. Lastly, the cleaning service fell under the bare minimum expectation because they didn’t restock any toilet papers and tissues. On the day of check-out, we ran out of toilet papers. For all those reasons, AVOID THIS HOTEL AT...
