This restaurant seems to be resting on its laurels. We had reservations, greeted the hostess and staff in Italian with a smile. We received food menus but no wine menu...then two wine menus. We were pestered to order multiple times by what seemed to be 4 wait staff handling about 10 tables - ours included. We were obviously still perusing our menus. Fine! We'll order! Sheesh! Once our order was in, our wine arrived, followed by bread and crudites. (Average in both instances.) Then, rather suddenly, a man we'd not seen yet grabbed my plate from in front of me while I still had a piece of bread in my hand and was chewing the bite of it I'd just taken! It was sudden and very, very rude. I think my husband even muttered "What the hell..." as his plate was whisked away, too. My entree was set before me, my husband's before him, contorni in the middle. Honestly, it was a dreadful presentation! The food: My polpette were cold, the pureed potatoes were gummy and cold. The flavors were terribly bland. The grilled vegetables were room temp, but that's normal. The best part of the whole meal ended up being the vegetables! My husband's veal was full of gristle and improperly cooked...was it veal, really? 🤷♀️ They assumed we were done. Mind you, we'd each had one glass of wine from the bottle. So we sat and leisurely drank the rest of it. We were asked if we wanted dessert, my husband said no. We asked for il conto, paid and left. Honestly, this was worst €140 dinner we've had out since moving in Italy 2 years ago. Go elsewhere! We can very highly recommend...

La Capannina was one of the most memorable dining experiences we had during our stay in Capri. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The setting is charming and elegant, just steps from the famous Piazzetta yet offering a quiet, intimate atmosphere perfect for a relaxing evening.
The service was truly outstanding, and we want to give special thanks to Alexandro and Sonia, who went above and beyond to make our evening special. Alexandro was attentive, knowledgeable, and guided us through the menu with excellent recommendations. Sonia brought a genuine warmth and attentiveness that made us feel like honored guests. Their hospitality was sincere, personal, and greatly enhanced our overall experience.
The food was exceptional. We enjoyed a beautifully prepared seafood pasta, fresh grilled fish, and appetizers that showcased the best of local ingredients. Everything was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The wine list offered a great selection of regional options, and the sommelier helped us choose a pairing that elevated the entire meal.
For dessert, we followed their advice and tried the lemon specialty — and it was the perfect choice. Light, refreshing, and full of citrus flavor, it captured the essence of Capri in every bite.
La Capannina is not just a restaurant, it’s an experience of Capri’s best — exceptional food, heartfelt service, and timeless charm. Thanks to Alexandro and Sonia, it’s a night we will always remember. Highly recommended for anyone...
Read moreVery disappointed with my experience. When I was in Capri a couple of years ago this restaurant was booked up and therefore gave the impression of being popular and therefore, good! So I made a special point to visit this year. I went in for lunch and based on reviews thought I would have no issues also being Gluten Free. Well first of all the service was average, they didn’t smile, not seem friendly and it just seemed as though they didn’t care. The atmosphere was also really dead despite being full of patrons. I ordered the spaghetti ala ‘nerona’ for something new. I alerted the waitress to my celiac and gluten free requirements. I also told her not to worry about serving me bread. Soon after a waiter placed regular bread on my table and I had to alert him that I was gluten free. The pasta came out and it was awful. It was so awful in fact that I could not finish the meal and felt really sick halfway through. The GF pasta was not even cooked, I was chewing it hard to try to get it down, but in the end I gave up. With other restaurants serving excellent gluten free pasta perfectly ‘al dente’, I was so angry that this expensive and ‘famous’ restraint couldn’t even cook their pasta. I paid and left my plate almost all full. Suffice to say, I won’t be spending my money here next time I visit. It was honestly so gross, inedible with a lifeless and...
